Great get away! Friendly staff, evening activities and super chill. Go out of your way to find this amazing place.

To sum up why I give it 2 stars:
    - very bad value for money, especially the food
    - staff seemed unorganized
    - they advertise with their turtle hatchery but it's not theirs

I find it hard to write a bad review because we came for the turtles and we saw them. So I guess I can't complain but I just can't believe the hype about this place.
The prices for the food are outrageous and the food is pretty bad (cheapest breakfast 4USD). I would also expect their profits (that they obviously make because it's expensive) would go towards 'their' turtle hatchery but they don't. None of the profits go towards this cause; we were told it all depends on our donations. Where the profits do go? Who knows.. It's just a very smart marketing trick to get people to come over. Then the so called 'turtle mama' almost stepped on a baby turtle twice! First to put her go pro in the sand to film it all and later because the go pro floated away and she ran after it through the turtle filled water! Now to end it on a positive note; it is a really nice place to chill out, there are lots of activities (volleyball, games, slack line) and of course baby turtles! Anyone who - like us - only comes for the turtles I would advise to go somewhere else. It is worth the money, but I'd much rather pay money knowing it goes to the right cause.

This place is paradise. It’s really really clean and there’s plenty of hammocks to go around. The volunteers/staff are really friendly and there is an activity every evening if you would like to get involved. The food and drink are a little more expensive that you find in the cities however it’s to be expected seeing as the only way to get there is by boat and horse and cart (also a very cool journey!)

Nice location but everything else was really bad. A bunch of drinking volunteers and a 25 year old "manager".. Mouse droppings on the bed in the private room. Very pricey even for that location.. More a place for young drinking backpackers..

Look at the photos! Mouse poop on my sheets. And stains.
Staff isn’t THAT nice as mentioned before and I am a very chill person not asking for a lot. One guy at the bar actually had positive energy (not sure how else to describe it)

    - there is no common kitchen
    - you have to buy their food which isn’t cheap since
    - outside food isn’t allowed
    - had mice poop in my bed (discovered it the next morning under my sheet, yes it can happen after sheets were changed because the mice walk up on the beams but if you know you have mice , check before guest comes ?)
    - oh and SHEETS WERE NOT CHANGED from earlier guest ! Brown (blood?) stains were on the bed sheet, due to the edges of the stains they were not old stains , oh i later saw some on the pillow as well! I asked the staff to change it, no apologies nothing .

    - my friend is HIGHLY ALLERGIC to cats and cats love to sleep in the main floor dorm (downstairs) , there is a sign saying exactly that but that’s not very customer friendly . People may not care if they don’t have allergies but those cats are also living outside, hunting in the dirt and do you really want to have a cat sleeping on your bed ?
(I found one in my bed when I came in at night , i carried her ihr . I love cats but If she would have slept in my friends bed, we would have to change the sheets again)

    * one star for the location. It’s beautiful 😍
    * one star for I don’t know , I don’t want to be an ass.

A cool hostel located on an truly paradisaical beach.
The unique location by itself makes for a memorable stay. Add to that the relaxed atmosphere, eco-friendly mindset (they have a turtle breeding program) and the reasonable prices (in the same range you can expect at any other hostel), and you get truly unforgettable experience.

Super laid back hostel directly on the beach and away from everything else, definitely a different kind of experience compared to the usual hostel. Sunset and the site are beautiful. Apart from the unavoidable sand that's everywhere, the facilities were clean. They offer a lot of fun and party activities but it's easy to escape these if you're not in the mood. The main floor dorm was a bit too small for four bunk beds and fans would definitely help during the night. On the plus side, the beds in the dorm were really comfortable! The stay there can/ will be more expensive than elsewhere because you can't bring your own food and considering their isolated location, food and drinks are expensive for Nicaragua. But the location and the chance to see hatching baby turtles and the support of a good cause was worth the extra money

Beautiful, laid back, with the possibility of a fun party depending on the crowd. The bar moves out to the beach at 11 so you can sleep if you're not into the ruckuss if things get going. Awesome staff, fun activities and games to help you get to know the other people staying there. You're on an island so your stuck with eating and drinking there but prices are decent if a little expensive compared to Leon. Why are you still reading this? Just go there, you won't regret it!

They have a really pretty private beach area. There are fun activities if you want to be active, and lots of hammocks if you don't. The facilities were clean and comfortable. The only bad thing is that no outside food or drinks are (technically) allowed, and the food/drinks are really expensive for Nicaragua (5+ USD for a full meal vs. like 1.50). But I suppose it's for a good cause (sea turtles!) so if you like beaches and don't mind being sandy pretty much constantly, go for it for sure!!

Great place, waves are very strong so you have to be a good swimmer to swim in this sea. Food of the hostel is very good but a little bit expensive. Employees are friendly and they organize activities every night to get connected with other travelers easily. The atmosphere here is amazing.

Awesome hotel by the beach. Friendly and helpful staff. The cabin I stayed on was great my only complain is the water pressure was a little low in the shower. Overall a great experience.

It's in a very beautiful place, and getting there is both fun and interesting as you have to cross water, take a boat then horse and buggy.
The place is clean, they have a lot of healthy animals and the beds are comfortable.
They also run a turtle hatchery, so we were lucky enough to see two sets of turtles being released, which is an amazing experience.
The reason they don't get 5 stars is because the food is very expensive and doesn't taste very nice, and I'm not usually picky when it comes to food. They also have a system where you pay for food, drinks and accommodation at the end of your stay. Other people had added things to my bill, and since the staff (not the volunteers) were very unhelpful and rude, it took ages to sort out.
I would definitely recommend coming here, but maybe bring some fruit, vegetables and snacks of your own

One of the best spots in Nicaragua. Amazing community that I would even consider a family. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. Tons of hammocks, lounge chairs, areas to waste the day away reading, fun activities every night to bring hostel guests together, yoga, surfing, turtle hatching, volleyball, I could go on and on. This place is a must-stay and you will never be bored. We could have stayed for weeks. The cabin on the beach was amazing, falling asleep to the sound of waves and waking up to the water all made the extra $ worth it.

Stayed here during a tour for two nights. We had lots of fun here as it was one the places you could feel safe as the only people in the surrounding areas were those that were working in the hostel or patrons. The only issue we had was that in the 16 bed dorm, there was a hole in the corner of the roof were a bat managed to come in and fly around the room. This prompted most of us to sleep else where. I ended up sleeping on the second floor of the shack. A lovely experience as I woke up to the most gorgeous sun rise. It was an interesting experience!
