When you get to San Juan there's no escaping it: Sunday Funday. When we started of at hostel Pachamama it was all good fun and the boozing and party were amazing. Then we went by foot to hotel Anamar. The party there was pretty good as well. But after a few hours of partying we wanted to grab some food and go with a taxi to the Naked Tiger hostel. The entrance was crowded with people waiting for the shuttle, but we wanted out and grab something to eat before we went to the naked tiger. Then we felt like sheep. Literally nobody was willing to let us out the hotel, we were forced to wait in line for the shuttle we were forced to to take. Talked to several people but no luck. They even wouldnt let us get on the beach without ripping our sunday funday bracelet of our wrists ($30). I got angry why the hell would you force me to be here if I just want something to eat and take a taxi later?? The more I thought about it, the more crazy I got in my head. I paid freaking $30 for a bracelet and you wont even let me leave the perimeter to eat and take a cab??? Just put my 30 bucks to waste like that? Absolutely insane It was like the maffia telling you to take the shuttle or quit your night. If that isnt a tourist trap, I dont know anymore. Please, please make sunday funday a funday once again and dont be so stupid about people wanting to enjoy their basic human rights such as freedom. It cost me $30 but I hope the people reading this will know what they are about to get in to if you want to be a sheep, go ahead.. if you want to decide for yourself when and where you are going after paying $30, please leave a comment as well. It made my sunday a deception, but I'd rather be honest and straight about it instead of let people having the same bad experience.

Very unsatisfied with the service yet alone the rooms. The biggest one runs you about $140USD. This price gets you; a non-working fridge, inner doors that dont lock and a main door that is hard to close.
Quite honestly better off renting from somewhere else or through AirBNB.
This was the third time coming to this location. Last time around, breakfast was included. Mind you, i had to wait 30 mins for a cup of coffee i had to pay for?
If it’s not management then its an owner who has lost all hospitality interest.response / report this review -

The owner of the hotel is really arrogant.
The food is ok and the security is really bad. If you bring your car it will be exposed outside of the hotel.
Everything is Spence. Noise place and not wheelchairs are accessible here.
The dollar exchange rate. They RIP you off
The room are completely nasty.
Crappie pillow case and pillows.
Go and found other hotels in the area.

Best stop @ the "Sunday Funday" party. The staff was quick and made nice drinks. The pool was clean and you've a nice view at the lake (beachfront).
The hotel looked very nice so I would also spend some nights here (was notavailable on our dates). You get a 50% discount for Sunday Funday Tickets when you stay here (original 30$).
Just if you look for a quiet place you should avoid tje Sundays (at least during the afternoon, then the crowed wents on).response / report this review -

It is a very comfortable place at a reasonable price. It has a small pool and a nice area facing the ocean, literally just a few steps away from the shore. Try not to eat there though, as there are plenty of other options nearby.

Loved that its beachfront. Its own swimming pool. Its not luxury but always recommend it to my friends.

Just stayed here and it was absolutely amazing. The ladies running the hotel are warm, honest and very helpful. One of them speaks English very well. We enjoyed a wonderful complementary breakfast, which was served on their beach restruant. They are right on the beach and in a quiet location with a view that is stunning. Their rooms are very spacious and the A/C works perfect. Security is good as well, they have a gate that stays locked at night except for guests and a guard dog that enjoys the company of guests, and somehow knows the difference between guests and strangers. The price is also unreal for what you get. In my opinion, Hotel Anamar is the best hotel in San Juan Del Sur.

Customer service is lacking here. Rooms are old and smell like mold.Didn't get a smile or warm welcome from any of the employees here. Will not be going back to this hotel ever again
