Clean, quiet, and close to many wonderful things to see, this is an excellent hotel in the heart of Leon. We were delighted to see many international travelers staying here. They also have a Starbucks quality cafe in the building with very resasonable prices. The breakfasts they served with wonderful, with many healthy and delicious choices. We look forward to visiting again!

Loved the rooms! Also the staff were super helpful :) Definitely a good spot to use as a base for day trips when visiting beautiful Nicaragua.

Located near the Cathedral in Leon, it was a good central location within easy walking distance of restaurants, historical buildings and the tour operators that take you to volcanoes,hiking etc.

I stayed here with one of my friends for 2 weeks during what was probably the hottest time of the year (right before rainy season - actually saw the first couple storms come in before we left!). It was around the last 2 weeks of April 2016.
We got to know the staff very well. Odón runs the hotel and is incredibly helpful. I was able to speak with him about various special requests we had, and he accommodated us without hesitation. One such example is our use of the hotel's fridge and getting to borrow one of their knives. My friend and I are vegans. I actually eat basically a raw-vegan type of diet, due to my diagnosis of Crohn's disease about a year ago. So finding a hotel that was so incredibly accommodating of my needs to maintain a certain diet, that's basically just tons and tons of fruits & veggies, was like a blessing to say the least!
My friend and I found this to be one of the cleanest places we've ever stayed. The maids do a wonderful job, and we made friends with them quickly. They were incredibly kind and we never had any issues if we wanted to sleep late, but still needed cleaning service later on.
The beds were SUPER comfortable and the nights are quiet. AC works very well and is extremely quiet, which is oddly something that took some getting used to for us haha!
We have stayed in many hotels and Airbnbs, due to our "nomadic" digital lifestyle and the careers we've built for ourselves. Our time in Leon at Las Mercedes (Best Western) was the most enjoyable adventure we've had thus far. We made quite a few friends in Leon, through Salsa classes (check out Cafe con Leche classes via Facebook, Fran is great!) and through many trips to the market (Rita sits near the front center opening during the middle of the day, selling coconuts, coconut water, and the BEST mangos I have ever had in my life!). The hotel staff felt like friends as well, as we got to see the same guards and front desk managers several times over the course of our 2-week stay. Many of them speak English very well, far better than I can speak Spanish (haha) and Odón's English is perfect. However, for the few times when a staff member wasn't so great with English, we had a lot of fun practicing our Spanish and trying to learn a little new language together. And - there was always someone nearby who did speak English to help out, if something more significant was needed.
Odón gave me advice on where I might be able to find odd things, like coconut oil, during our stay. One of the men at the front desk explained a few different places for gyms and volcano boarding excursions. They took care of my friend's laundry for her (and helped me find a place where I could do mine, as I'm picky about which clothing is washed in cold/hot water etc). They **ALWAYS** greeted us with a warm smile and an "Hola!" or "Buenos!"
I could not have been more enamored with the hotel, the staff, or the entire trip really. It's funny, we had booked somewhere else initially (NOT the Best Western, but nearby for about the same price) and our trip got off to a rocky start in the beginning. Heading to the Best Western and meeting Odón, everything about our trip just improved 10-fold. He showed me the rooms, helped me check the internet speeds (BEST in Leon by the way), explained the cleaning service, water, coffee, free breakfast, etc. He asked how many beds we needed, how soon we would like to check in (we checked in early and checked out late by the way) - and THEN even offered to help us move our luggage. We declined because we thought it would make things more awkward at the place we were already leaving, but the offer to have helped us (again, for free) was just incredible.
Odón, his staff, and the hotel are a downright gem in the heart of Leon. I cannot recommend this place, or this wonderful group of people, highly enough.

Everyone was so nice and accommodating. The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. I felt safe leaving my belongings in my room with nothing being disturbed. It was right by the town square and very close to multiple stores and restaurants. It was also very reasonably priced. I loved it and would stay there again and I recommend it to others!
