third time we rented here. had no problems and a good car. will return for our hunting trip again next year. cheers. jp
Amazing Trip! Good Cars! Friendly Staff! Will Visit Again!! Thanks Car Hire Team, Olåf
I can really recommend Camping Car Hire. We just returned from a 2 week trip in Namibia. We the lucky enough to only have 2 nights of rain, even though there were some really big downpours while we were in Namibia. The roof tent was great, even in the rain and the truck managed the roads fabulously. We will be back and will recommend you to our friends :)
Keep up the good work and the fab service.
Great place to rent a 4x4, helpful, friendly and a good serrvice/price. Careful to bring you own blanket though!
My wife and I rented a car at Camping Car Hire for 23 days during December. The handover was done in a very professional manner and everything was explained well. On Chrismas day one of the tyres got a puncture in Damaraland. Even though it was a public holiday we were helped by one of the employees who phoned around in the area and then sent us to a workshop where they repaired the tyre in no time. As we had the tyre and windscreen insured we got a refund at the end of the tour.
The car itself ran very well throughout the trip without any problems even though some of the roads were in a terrible state.
Will definitely return to this company!!!
Being a Namibian that now lives abroad. This is the place I come to when I want to rent a car for my holidays! ALWAYS friendly service from this amazing German family! Our car and equipment always in VERY GOOD condition! The best part of CCH is that they help and assist you with your tour planning. They are locals and know the good places! Cant wait to get back. Easy to us website in multi languages. Don't hesitate to contact them!
We had our third vacation in Namibia and as always used Camping Car Hire. Thanks for your excellent service and tour planning -
we hope to see you next year again.
MYSELF & TWO FRIENDS TOURED THE MOST OF NAMIBIA, ALSO THE VERY BAD GRAVEL ROADS TO AND AROUND SOSSUS VLEI / SOLITAIRE. WE WERE MOST SURPRISED HOW WELL OUR NISSAN 4 X 4 BEHAVED.. WE FOUND ALL OUR EQUIPMENT TO BE IN A GOOD WORKING ORDER. IT TOOK SOME TIME GETTING USED TO GETTING UP INTO THE TENTS AT NIGHT - WHICH WAS QUITE AN EXPERIENCE. WE WILL DEFINITELY DO IT AGAIN. GREAT
We started of very nice, staff was very helpfull. Cars were pretty old, but we trusted this german family owned company. Unfortunately they sell you insurance policies, but hide behind dubious wording when it comes to paying for any damage.
Do not hire a car here, unless you want a bad deal.
Very good service.. well prepared car.. everything was explained to us very well and with special attention. Our journey went very well and smooth without any problems. Despite of decent mileage car was prepared excellent, tyres were in good conditions, as well as camping equipment. We drove 5000km in 17th days, without any major problems.
We saw many people on the road, who had problems becouse didn't know things we did know from CCH team.
I do not understandt poeple who complain about CCH service. If someone does not have imagination how to drive a car like this especially with a tent on the roof, then should hire a car with the driver.
My dad and I booked a vehicle with two tents for our two-week trip around Namibia. CCH also planned the route and made the bookings for us, based on a wish to see the varied landscape as well as the wildlife.
They did not disappoint - we had a fabulous time exploring the country. We had a balanced mix of nights in the tents and nights in accommodation at lodges/camps and all were of a pretty high standard.
The vehicle was great, and we had no problems with it. Once you've popped the tents up and down a couple of times it's easy to get the knack of it. You just need to make sure everything is tied down securely - it's not rocket science, but perhaps not the easiest for anybody over the age of say 70. You need to be quite limber for clambering up those ladders! 😊
This is the fifth time my family has used Camping Car Hire and we will happily do so again when we return to Namibia. They are very efficient and have a good support network on the ground with local contacts, which is helpful and reassuring when you are on the road.
We just returned from a 3 week camping safari through this beautiful country. Thank you for all the advice and a reliable camping car. The equipment was sufficient and we had no problems handling it.
We can only recommend renting here - service - travel tips - camping vehicle - equipment everything was in good order and we are happy customers.
Camping Car Hire received this feedback from Cristina Zenato.
We recently came back from our first trip to Namibia and used Camping Car Hire. I can not recommend enough your company. Everything was done perfectly. We were very impressed with the fact that you would pick us up at the airport although we were renting the car one and half day after our arrival, same for our return.
The welcome on both instances was excellent, we noticed that although you say you are closed on Sunday, you had not only time for us but for many more clients. You are there when guests need you. We loved our vehicle, we had to rent a double cabin Nissan due to availability and if we had to do it again, we would go with the same choice. The car was kept in very good conditions, the engine showed it was very well taken care of. We appreciated the complete explanation of the gear, vehicle and emergency procedures, it helped in many situations and allowed us to drive on 4x4 areas without any issues. We didn't plan our trip and it worked very well for us, through the road map we decided day by day our next stop and adventure. Camping was perfect choice. At the last minute we decided to complete our stay with Etosha and were rewarded with some amazing encounters, but our favorite part were for sure the desolated areas of the Naukluft park and further south. Thank you again, you remain our choice for future trips and for recommendation on where to rent a vehicle in Namibia.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Horrendous service from start to finish - at one point the company owner threatened to KIDNAP us.
We were not shown how to properly fasten the roof tents after use. Further, the velcro on the straps were completely worn down and unfit for purpose. On a particularly windy day while driving on the motorway the straps came undone and one of the tents flew open. This caused extensive damage to the tent (and also very nearly caused a serious road accident, though this fact was entirely lost on the company). When we handed the car back, the company blamed us for not fastening the tents properly, despite not being instructed how to do so. During this discussion, when we explained that we are not paying the full price for a new tent, the company owner explained that the door is locked and we won't be allowed to leave until we pay up. When we replied that we will call the police, he told us to "choose our words very carefully".
With the negotiation descending into the absurd at this point, we steered it back to numbers and were able to reach an agreement in time to catch our flight home.
The message we took from this experience, based on the appalling customer service, the risk of serious road accident and the threat of kidnap, is that Camping Car Hire should be avoided at all costs.
I don't recommend Camping Car Hire CC form Windhoek,
but from the beginning.
We, as budget travelers, were wondering what car to choose. The cheapest option was to take just small car like VW polo and tent with equipment from another company, but we really dreamed about driving through Damaraland and Kaokoland, so we decided to pay more and rent 4x4 car. I asked a question what if the car is broken by email. The answer was we will deal with that immediately.
The day of our tour came and while the car handover the paper was given to us to sign. Not only standard rental agreement, the whole list of exclusions was given. And yes, I admit the most of them were ok, and I understand the reason why they need to be careful about them. But there was also 1 point which should I be informed about, before I decide to rent a car from them. That was - we can go to Damaraland and Kaokoland (list of roads), but for our own risk! Hmm, this was what I asked about, shouldn't the answer be like "we will deal with that, but in some areas you are responsible for mechanical repairs". These include also damaged not cause by us.
And on our first day the fuel pomp was broken. We didn't know what to do. If the pomp had broken in Damaraland these would have been our expense! And it was not our fault. I really prefer to have money for next vacation than spending them on repair not mine car, without my fault.
Completely unfair!
This company is unfair because whole risk is on customer site.
"The roads on your own risk" include even UNESCO site Twyfelfontein!
and many, many more interesting places in Namibia.
PS1. We were waiting for mechanics for 5 hours because they got lost on their way. Our plan was very close to collapse. They are of course not responsible for that at all. We did scratch, and it would be nice to have some discount after these pomp story, but no.
