A historical site which was razed to build new cathedrals in place. Entrance fee is 70 pesos. Worth the visit. The ruins are well preserved and the museum provides further insight of the culture and life of the past. This attraction is one of the must visit in Centro Historico in CDMX.

Amazing site. Explanations are clear and interesting but in Spanish only throughout the exterior exhibits. Some dual language in the entrance museum. Interesting exhibit on the Mixteca going on now I don't know if it's always there or a changing exhibit. Do not bring food, water or gum with you.. you will be asked to throw it away.

This museum is very nice! Everything is explained in Spanish and English. The outdoor section showing the various sections of temple ruins were well labeled. The interior museum has 8 rooms, each with a different theme. I found the first four rooms to be the most interesting. I loved the interior design of the museum too.

So much history, so much to learn. It's like a tiny slice of the anthropology museum (which I can't recommend enough). Go early. The Sunday midday crowds really make it hard to appreciate what you're looking at, when fully half the people are taking selfies instead of looking at what's right in front of them.
4 stars only because most of the interpretation plaques are in Spanish only. I fully understand how this complaint makes me sound, but know your audience. English is an international language, and you're only charging the foreigners admission. (If my friend hadn't asked me a question right in front of the gatekeeper, I would have gotten in for free.) So please make it possible for us to understand what we're looking at - and paying for. (Most of the outdoor plaques are Spanish & English. Almost everything inside is Spanish only.)
Also? Security is a joke. Two different guards looked in the main part of my bag. They made me throw away my water, but didn't look at the rest of my bag, even though the metal detector was going off. (It was going off for everybody.) What's the point?response / report this review -

An outstanding intimate museum focused on the excavations of the Templo major, the original Aztec site. The museum is loaded with articles found on site including numerous interesting tribute objects and larger ceremonial pieces. Well worth the entrance fee (70 pesos) as you also get to tour the Templo site, and this is worth the time. All in all a superb experience you should plan for a 2 hour visit period.

In addition to the ruins of the Aztec temple, you will find a very nice museum which covers multiple topics: the Aztec lifestyle and religion; the animals and plants in the area; and the colonization. This makes for a very interested visit, although none of the sights or exhibits are "amazing" if you compare them to the Cathedral or the Museo de Antropologia.
On the down side, the elevator was out of order, and I expect it won't be repaired anytime soon. This made our visit with a stroller a very painful experience (we had to go up and down four flights of stairs). If you have a stroller or wheelchair, it is better that you ask in the ticker office if the elevator is working before entering.response / report this review -

Amazing museum of Mexico City historical artifacts. A beautiful building overlooking excavated ruins of the sacred temples. A must for anyone interested in the city's ancient past.

If they could have written into a wall or a tree to be reminded it would be here for sure saying: "Aztecs ruled here!" This ruins recovered from the ancient prehispanic Aztec Kingdom still feel and show a bright history sleeping underground. The historical heart of Mexico lies here!

This can be seen in all of 10 minutes. There is a nice "pier" overlooking the site, which I think will suffice. Personally I would not pay to walk through the actual site, because that is what you are paying for and the signage is poor. There are a lot of other better art galleries and museums to see and even the Teotihuacan site which gives us a better idea and representation of older times.

Great museum telling the story of the Aztec very thoroughly at an active archeological site where significant discoveries are still being unearthed. Not to be missed.

Pretty impressive museum. Shows more background into the recent artifacts discovered in mexico. Also it's cool to see some reproduced sculptures with the original colored stucco

Pretty cool to walk around and see the ruins. If you have a backpack they make you leave it in a room, then when you are done you have to exit in a different place than where you started and walk all the way around back to the start to get the backpack
