I have rented a few cars in my life, and this experience was the worst. First of all, the Sixt booth on my arrival at the airport was empty. I asked another nearby rental company where they were, and his response was for me to take a seat, and he would call them. It took at least 10 minutes for someone to arrive, and at first sight he made me feel as though I was an inconvenience. It seemed to take forever to get my car, since it was training day. By that I mean a trainee training another trainee. Nothing explained to me about the contract that I could understand, so I ended up (that I read from my agreement later) leaving without insurance.
On return of my car, there was no-one there. The sign says they open at 7:00 am. but I arrived at 8:40 and the place was deserted. I waited for 15 minutes and no-one came. I thought of phoning the branch but why, who would answer if the place was deserted. Since my flight was leaving at noon, I now realized that I had to find my own transportation to the airport. I then seen another rental car company (Firefly car rental) about a block away. I walked there, explained about "Sixt car rental" leaving me abandoned, and asked if they could give me a ride to the airport with there shuttle. Without a blink, the gentleman working at Firefly, said yes and got me the driver immediately. I gave the driver a few dollars for the trip and thanked him.
In conclusion, I will never deal with Sixt car rental again. They could apologize all they want, but to leave someone to fend for themselves in a foreign country is incompressible. Also I must give a thumbs up to "Firefly car rental" for stepping up when there other countrymen dropped the ball.
