the staff. are so incredibly helpful and accommodating. Javier at the front desk is a gem and Wendy in house keeping is attentive, hard working and always smiling. it's definitely a budget hotel but the staff make up for any amenities that may be lacking. some rooms have newer, comfy mattresses - doesn't hurt to ask when booking. we moved from a 2 queen room to a single king to get a much better mattress

The pool in the winter months is freezing cold. They do not heat it at all and it needs it! No one was in the pool. Sitting next to the pool was nice. We booked this place to have a pool. Major bummer since you can NOT swim in the ocean in San Jose (Palmilla is the closest swimming beach) nor in this pool. Front desk guys (great guys!) know this but their hands are tied. Buyer be aware if you have kids and are considering staying here. Our 9yr old was bummed. We will stay elsewhere next year until they heat the pool. In the summer it's good and warm, but most Americans visit in the winter and expect a warm pool. Maybe the owners will read this? I talked to other guests and they all commented on this too. No bueno.

Location is great, the hotel has a mall across the street. The rooms are very clean and everything turns on/off with the room key.

Basics done well. Good maid service.

It feels like your renting out someone's first postcollege studio apartment, there's a kitchenette with a cutting board utensils etc, a rickety table with plastic chairs and more empty floor space. Not the nicest furnishings or the softest bed but it's roomy clean and the air conditioning works well. I do like that the maids actually tidied up my stuff, my toiletries I had strewn around were laid out nicely, jacket off the floor etc.

Parking was plentiful and close to the rooms, the pool seemed decent and they were digging a hot tub(?) when we were there.
