We stayed at this hotel for 9 nights and it was excellent! We got upgraded to an ocean front room after the first night which was a nice bonus. It had a kitchen so we cooked our breakfasts in the room and the hotel provided anything we neededknife, coffee maker, etc. The rooms were very clean! The staff was SUPER friendly! Many, but not all of the staff speak English. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The hotel has its own private beach which has both sun and shade. The hotel's owners were on the property which always makes a difference on how well the hotel is run. The owners are Italian, so you know the food in the restaurant is going to be excellent. We ate several meals there, which included pasta, lobster, tacos and burgers. Overall, we had an excellent experience at El Fuerte.

A very nice place in Mahahual, it's pretty and has a European approach. The rooms are nice and not very expensive, the food is very good too. It's mexican with an Italian twist. The restaurant is very nice and helpful. We went out of his way to help with any question we had concerning the place

El restaurant Maramao es lo mejor del poblado, la comida muy fresca, muy buenas porciones y precios razonables.
El Sr Luca siempre nos atendió amablemente. Mi esposa,mi cuñada y yo quedamos muy satisfechos con el servicio.

Hotel mit Restaurant auf dem belebten Malecon. Wir haben hier nur gegessen und sowohl Steak als auch Fisch Tacos waren lecker.

Restaurant review only:

Good food. Loved the guacamole. It is very close to the fresh guac I make at home. Quite nice.

I am not a big fan of cooked fish, but I am adventurous enough to try new things. That said, the fish tacos were very nice. I love spicy food so I piled on the Salsa Habañera (habanero sauce), and it was a perfect spicy. My wife (who is Mexican-American) thought it was a little too hot though. I loved it.

We also got the ceviche. It was very big. Between the guacamole, fish tacos and ceviche, we were full, and everything was very fresh and delicious.

We loved the restaurant for a delicious lunch. Excellent staff! We visited with the owner, and we told him we will return right away to stay for a week. Right in front of the beach, too!
We looked at one hotel room and it was nice.
