Great service and good deal for your money (or points)
The PROS:
The hotel is great and so is the rest of the staff. They are extra nice and the facilities are good. We were celebrating our 7th Wedding Anniversary and an upcoming graduation (next month), so my husband emailed them about it. Not only did I get a room upgrade (which was guaranteed as an IHG Platinum Ambassador elite), we also got Club Lounge access so we enjoyed the free breakfast (with lots of fruits and juice) and early night snacks (and would have been able to enjoy alcohol too but we don't drink). Please note that Club Lounge access is not guaranteed anymore even if you get upgraded to a Club room, so it was really nice to have it on this property, while I was disappointed to get nickel & dimed at the Mexico City Intercontinental.
We were happily surprised with a very well done decorations in the room, including balloons, a Happy Anniversary banner, dozens of post-it love notes all over the room and bathroom, a welcome letter, fruits and a fresh mango puree for me. Amaranta and her staff did a great job on this. Alejandro (Alex) was also great in answering our questions and giving recommendations while we were there. He also made sure that we had a better experience at the Mexican restaurant the 2nd night where the staff and manager were very nice and attentive so they got a good tip.
The CONs:
We were happy about the upgraded room, but would have preferred a double or a queen bed like our original booking. We don't like being too far away from each other in the bed, or having to crawl more to reach the bedside tables.
The bathrooms also didn't have any exhaust fans, so when someone was doing the #2, it would stink up the whole room and would take a long time to dissipate. I also missed my bidet, which should really be a standard in all the top hotels worldwide, aside from the exhaust fan in the bathroom.
We also chose a green-stay or no cleaning in our room until we left, mostly because my husband likes his privacy. Unfortunately, this means that we had to keep requesting to get our daily water (free for elites) and the amenities (toiletries and towels as needed), and on some days they kept forgetting to bring them up after I called. I had to leave without shower one day because I ran out of shampoo and conditioner, and when we came back it still wasn't delivered like I instructed, even after calling again. We learned the lesson at the next hotels, and requested to have all the extra amenities, water and towels delivered the first day, so we don't have to keep calling them every day.
The Italian restaurant is also nothing special except being located inside a high-class hotel so it is overpriced. We expected good service in this nice restaurant, but not only they didn't check on us after we got the food (and the pasta was too hard, not even al dente yet, mostly undercooked), they mostly ignored us even after multiple attempts at hailing them. My husband already finished his food before the manager or some other uniformed guy finally talked to us, and by then I already lost my appetite. They also took forever finishing up and giving us the final bill. They can't say that there were too many other customers because there was only one other group there the whole time, and aside from the cooks, there were 4 other staff members that we saw including the nice lady who was the first to attend to us before the waiter took over. After waiting 15mins, we had to hail what we think was the manager again just to get our bill so we could go.response / report this review -

Wonderful experience in this hotel. They have been improving their service and quality in every aspect. The rooms are cleaner and some have been refurbished. The the Intercontinental Club is really cozy. It has a wonderful pool at the center of the hotel and for a five star hotel is one of the best options in Puebla

This is my favorite place to stay in Puebla Lovely Hotel Beds are comfortable pillows are comfortable you have your own balcony a lot of attention to detail they treat you very well Nestor the parking valet is just excellent he does a great job.

Service is second to none! The rooms are nice with in room Nespresso and water. They could use a bit of updating but still very nice.
The pool is heated and surrounding area is very relaxing.
The lounge has great food and oversees the lobby with a very nice view.

I stayed in one of their standard rooms. Single king bed with breakfast included. Service here is fantastic and the go above snd beyond what they say they will do. Especially nice is the bartender Maria, but all the staff are wonderful.

Well I believe that is one of the most expensive hotel in the city, but the service is excellent. The location is perfect and the facilities are very comfortables.
