+Great location, +clean and good rooms, +friendly reception -reception could speak better English, -my room was beside the cleaning room and specially early in the morning it was quite noisy

I was deceived into thinking that I was getting a good deal when in fact I would have been better off paying the extra $100 dollars for a finer hotel. The rooms had no A/C, only a ceiling fan. The breakfast was horrible so don't waste your'e money there. Rooms were somewhat clean but a bit cramped. I would recommend Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico, it was worth the money.

Hotel Marlowe IS cheap, but the guests must be aware of one thing: the rooms are NOT air-conditioned; I repeat, there is NO A/C anywhere but in the lobby. That is unfortunate to say the least - Mexico City is getting quite hot during the day, but rather cold at night. A ceiling fan does not help much.
This dingy hotel definitely brings to mind the Bogey character (or Christopher Marlowe’s for that matter - if he was the rake they say he was). The fans of noir or Edward Hopper’s moody cityscapes might savor the dimly lit corridors, the empty lobby, the barely working water faucets, the dirty linen, and the stained towels (I do hope it was cranberry syrup).
Smoking is supposedly prohibited, but one can smell tobacco (and more) everywhere. The rooms (I looked at two) were spacious enough, but had decidedly unclean look and feel; there was a persistent foul smell (probably coming from the street). The floors could use some sweeping. The guests were a mixed crowd: plenty of tattooed and pierced backpackers, some weary businessmen, a working girl or two (in the evening), budget-conscious Eastern European tourists, truckers The place was generally quiet though.
Free Wi-Fi worked fine.
Breakfast was minimal; one should look for other options – there are some coffee places within a two blocks radius.
The bare bones staff was friendly, and accommodating, though the doorman had a somewhat menacing manner.
The area feels unsafe if not outwardly dangerous - there are plenty of homeless on the street, a beggar or two, and after dusk - groups of shifty characters, and small packs of stray dogs. It is only two blocks from Palacio de Bellas Artes, but the streets are filthy, pavement uneven, and in places badly damaged.
At the time of my stay, there were some street repairs - jackhammers and machinery - going on around a clock; the walls and doors are thin, earplugs might help.
The hotel struggles to attain respectability, but ultimately fails. Avoid.response / report this review -

Moderate hotel in great location off main street yet near museums and shops. Very nice, professional staff. Noise is only problem, as neighboring dogs seem to howl, bark, or whine most of the night. (No room control of temperature, so must keep window open for air, though still loud with it closed.) A modest buffet breakfast can be selected as an option when booking a room - photos show breakfast area and sad view from it.

The hotel room was cheap! The room was very clean! I stayed at this hotel for a week and the location is awesome! Everything is nearby and felt safe walking around at night. Another thing is that there are 3 metro stations nearby so you can little get around Mexico City at very affordable price with out the traffic. Just be careful though during peak hours for the metro its a pain in the butt, trust me. The only downside of my room was that the view from my window was just a huge wall so there's nothing to see. The breakfast was great! Usually same thing everyday but it really didn't bother at all. Therefore yes, I would definitely stay at this hotel again when in Mexico City.

I traveled to CDMX during Dia de los Muertos, which is generally a busy time to visit. Room rate was very fair. My room was clean and quiet with a ceiling fan (essential) and nice bathroom. Staff is very courteous and friendly even if you can't speak Spanish well. Waiting room was clean and very comfortable. I believe the rooms were recently renovated. Would definitely return to this location next time. Very central to many great sites and restaurants!

The staff are amazing. The place is beautifully laid out. The rooms are extra clean and welcoming. The beds are super comfortable. The bathrooms are set out nicely and spacious. I love this hotel. And it's so central to all the sightseeing.

It has avery good location close to many importan and historical sites in the center of the city. Our main inconvinient as a senior people is the lack of an elevator to the restaurant, other concern is the water temperature during shower, it varies from cold to hot in one second, you can get burns if you can't move fast. Other than that is ok.

They took care of me very well. The staff went out of there way to keep me informed on where I safe and where I wasn't. Would recommend and return here. BTW there is no Air conditioning

The place is good enough. The breakfast is good. It is Not expensive. The only 2 issues: 1 you sometimes hear the people in the hall when they talk. 2 the bathrooms don't have air extractor so it could be inconvenient if you go with several people.

Well run hotel, close to a lot of attractions. Fair prices not all rooms have air conditioning. Dinning area inside good, but lots around the blocks surrounding Hotel.

It's a renewed hotel, whit comfortable rooms and a good service.
It's in Historic Centre of the Mexico's City, very near of the Palace of Fine Arts, the National Palace, the house of the Federal Government, in that, there are a beautiful mural pictures of Diego Rivera. This hotel is near too, to the Chinese Town of Mexico City.response / report this review
