A grand French Department Store from the XIX Century transformed into a beautiful town Hotel. The lobby is one of the most Beautiful in the city. It's Grand Dome and iron elevators are in great stare of preservation. The hotel is nice, not top of the line as it could be, but it's worth it. Restaurant on the terrace with excellent views.
Definitely the best hotel to lodge if you're longing to stay at the heart of this magnificent city.

Stayed at the beautiful and historic Gran Hotel this past January and would absolutely recommend this place. The staff was incredibly attentive and the rooms are elegant, and there's 24 hour security and concierge service. They also have a delicious breakfast buffet with diverse food options. Also, it is walking distance to many main attractions in Mexico City, which is a big plus. Would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful restaurant with nice zocalo and surrounding building view. It is apparently top class view in Mexico City. My ox tail soup was too salty on my tongue. My stake did not have taste at all. What was that? Service was good. Price is high. Access from the hotel entrance to the restaurante was super impressive. interior decoration and it’s Architecture is super. Excellent hotel to stay and have some drink at night or daytime.

Just wow! We stayed here on our last night in Mexico City and this hotel was amazing. The nice service, clean room, and beautiful decor was very enjoyable. An added bonus is the location. There were so many activities taking place at El Zocalo which is right next to the hotel. We were fortunate and happened to have a window view of the square. Of course, you can't talk about this hotel without mentioning its beautiful glass ceiling! It's so beautiful that I'm pretty sure it made an appearance in the movie Coco.

Outstanding service! Rooms are fine. Not bad, but not spectacular. It's a 120 year old hotel From the doormen to the concierge to the housekeeping, just a very high level of service.

The review is for the hotel, not the restaurant, which was not particularly good.

For 4 people (if you like to share) I recomend Donceles Salad, Arrachera Tacos and Tortilla Soup. We drank lemonade, ginger ale and beer. All for $400.00 pesos. We came in October and enjoyed the biggest moon of Mexico City.

Wasted Beauty.
Stunning building on all accounts. Breathtaking stained glass ceilings and an unmatched view of the plaza below. Not exactly complemented by the plastic wicker furniture, cracked novelty glasses and shameless choice of art. I made better cocktail mixes as a clueless 7 year old that sought a candy high. Margaritas should be paired with a diabetes test coupon. Lovely staff and beautiful weather, but no need to revisit this terrace bar, only the hotel, which is open to the public.

Located at the very heart of Downtown Mexico City, the hotel is itself one of the oldest buildings in town. Rooms are very spacious, the lobby has glass ceilings and features one of the oldest elevators in the city. The personnel is very attentive and the rooms have either a view to the Zocalo or to the street next to the hotel.

Hotel great. Service good all employees helpful and friendly. Driver hotel uses to pickup and take back to airport, Hector Villanueva, professional and spoke good English. Be aware tours scheduled by hotel do not have a written itenery and the driver stops at a jewelry store and other souvenir shops without asking if u want to go. A tour to the pyramids and basicilla took 9 hrs because driver &/or hotel get kickbacks from these shops. Would recommend schedule private tour possibly with someone like Hector so u r taken only where u want to go.

Glorious historic hotel at an affordable price. We couldn't have asked for a better hotel for our first trip to Mexico City. We arrived with an itinerary packed full of sightseeing and dinning. The hotel's location made it an ideal base to rest, in luxury, while planning our next venture around D.F. Free wifi was quite helpful and worked perfectly. The building is just amazing, the inside is so grand and beautiful with the stain glass ceiling, it really does give you a feeling of being back in time. Upon check in, the staff was so kind and gracious. We were shown to our room and provide a small welcome gift and a nice dessert plate bed side. After a day of travel to an unknown place, this was a very nice touch that made us feel so welcomed and at home. The room was decorated nicely in a traditional manner. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room quite. I would definitely stay here again upon my next visit to Mexico. The Gran Hotel truly set the stage for our trip and enabled us to really enjoy the beauty and warmth of Mexico's impressive capital city.

It's gorgeous. We just visited the lobby but we checked into how much a room would be and decided that next trip we'll be staying there. It's location is great, next to the plaza and main tourist shopping streets. Everybody was incredibly friendly.

Can't beat the location. This is where they filmed part of the James Bond Spectre. Beautiful hotel mosaic ceiling. Could use some updating. They use the old elevator after you check in. Pretty cool but then you'd have use the regular one after. Has a very nice rooftop restaurant with nice view of the central area. Average food.

We went for lunch on Saturday. They told us we were not allowed to look at the buffet. If we go in, we would have to pay 400 pesos for it. I was not pleased with it and we left. It has nice decor. But too expensive, can't tell if it was worthy or not.

This hotel is the ultimate experience for staying in Mexico City. The lobby is absolutely stunning and it is run with very professional staff. My wife and I received a free upgrade to the King Suite which had an amazing view over Constitution Plaza. At night, the roof-top bar is an excellent place to enjoy a drink and the view. Highly recommended.

Beautiful lobby, probably one of the grandest I've seen. The stained glass ceiling is brilliant in the afternoon sun. The old elevator is a fun way to get to the 3rd floor. There is free tea and coffee in the lobby.

The service is quick and efficient and the staff is friendly. The doormen will always greet you with a smile.

We got the suite that faces Zocalo plaza. The views are incredible and the huge bay doors open to let in the sounds and smells of Zocalo, not to mention a fresh breeze. We slept with the doors open and a cool fresh breeze all night long. The morning sun will definitely wake you up and hit you right in the eye.

The beds are huge - get off on the other side and you'll end up in China. They give free waters everyday

The restaurant is not that great but views are wonderful.

I only stayed at this hotel for one night but it was amazing! Staff was very friendly and accommodating and the room was a very nice size with an awesome view of the city Square. I would highly recommend this place if you are planning to stay in Mexico city

Great dinner. The service needs to improve. You shouldn't need to look like a foreigner to get a decent attention from the waiter in your own home town.
