Like the Cinderella the charm is over when we go to bed between the sheets we found a sock and in the shower the water stagnated.

Stayed here for Christmas, 4 days. The Castle is definitely beautiful however that's where it ends
The room was in great need of updating. The bathroom was the worst we had ever seen in a hotel. The shower head broke off the second day we were there. After reporting it 3 times it was finally replaced on our last day there.
There was a very strong smell of must and mildew in the room.
After returning from an afternoon out we found our room door wide open. Maids had stripped the bed, had not cleaned the room and did not returnit took almost 30 min. to find someone to talk to about it and she told us the woman who cleans that room was gone for the day!!
Forget reporting it to the front deskthe people at the desk were very casual about everythingdid not greet anyone and as they talked among themselves, we waited to be acknowledged.
Almost everyone we encountered at the hotel were very unprofessional!
The hotel restaurant was also run in the same unprofessional Manor! I called to ask about ordering room service, there was no menu in the roomI was told that I would have to go to the restaurant to get a menu, we were on the fourth floor, lots of stairs to restaurant which was also another flight of Stairs up.
Restaurant is detached from the hotel.
The weekend buffet was very bad. A lot of the food was cold and the omelet chef was unfriendly and not around for some periods of time which left people waiting.
There was one waitress and one unhelpful waiter.
All In all we were very disappointed and felt it was a great waste of money. Love the history filled city of Guanajuato and will stay at one of the nicer hotels centrally located in the center of town next time.
Hotel is a lengthy taxi ride from the center of townadding a lot of daily travel costs.response / report this review -

Great place to stay. I gave it 4 stars because there was a problem with the bathroom and they never went to fix it after we reported it. However, the place is beautiful and close enough to the downtown.

I loved this hotel for it's crazy Castle-like architecture.
But be aware, despite its amazing appearance, it is NO luxury hotel.
Rooms are big, comfort is standard, but there are no services such as a concierge shop, room service, etc.
Reception staff is rude and rooms have not been maintained for the past ten years at least (ours had completely teared apart curtains and no lamp in the bathroom, just a bulb on the wall!!)
If you expect a 4* or 5* hotel, you will be VERY disappointed.
BUT if you just look for a crazy place to sleep in a strange castle atmosphere, Hotel Castillo Santa Cecilia is the place for you!response / report this review -

The service was very good. The hotel is a short cab ride away from the theater and center of the city. We were with a larger group and reserved 8 rooms total which varied greatly in size and layout depending on the wing they were in. Though even the smallest of the 8 was still very roomy and comfortable. I would definitely recommend it.

The hotel are so especial because is an ancient real castle, with ambientation like armors, swords and trones in the many many halls, is a very big hotel, the restaurant of the hotel is so confromtable. The people who works here are kind but a little bit inpertinent.

The most beautiful hotel in Guanajuato. It is really big, the rooms are well conserved. Excellent service in the restaurant. Competitive prices.
