We had an amazing time with Dive Cabo, They were extremely accommodating, had excellent equipment, were very professional, and the value is incredible. Free equipment storage, dive computer rentals, and free pictures of your dives. I have nothing bad to say about them. They made the dives perfect for us.
I did 2 days of diving with Dive Cabo and enjoyed every minute of it. The coral growth is not a good as in the indo-pacific but the marine life was amazing. Clean shop, good boats and friendly guides.
The dive masters are great and very knowledgeable The operations at the shop is chaotic and very unorganized. I'd give a 3 for the operations and 5 for the crew. I did 4 dives over two days. For those new to the area, the "local dives" are very very packed with other dives boats I'm surprised no one had been seriously injured coming up from a dive (watch your depth!)
Professional operation friendly people decent dive locations and little more expensive than some other places.
I have A LOT of dives and Dive Cabo has been the absolute worst dive shop with which I have ever done business. I have NEVER submitted a negative review about a dive shop before. I chose to go with this shop even though it was more expensive because we were trying to certify 3 new divers and I wanted the best.
GEAR: Extremely crappy, cheap, generic rental gear. Everyone wearing the shop’s mask came out of the water with horrible red marks between their eyes and in pain. We watched them run back to the shop on every dive and had to share gear on the tours.
They offer free gear storage except they don’t keep track of each individual’s gear. We had to rummage around looking for all our stuff every day. This makes things difficult for both the divers and the guides. They had bags, but they’d just pile random gear in them. I had a different wetsuit every dive and two of them left rust marks on my expensive swimsuits that I cannot remove.
STAFF: Most of the staff is not laid back or friendly. I went into the shop the first day and no one acknowledged my existence. I felt rushed and like I was an annoyance by simply being there. Don’t expect a “Don’t worry, be happy” attitude here.
At Cabo Pulmo no information about restrooms or water wondering what on earth was going on for more than an hour twice. We didn’t get a break during the 2 hour drive there or back. The snorkeling and beach area at Cabo Pulmo are gorgeous but they didn’t let our two snorkelers come along like we requested.
Geraldo brought our newly certified diver down too fast on a dive with no current. She ended up with a bloody nose on the ascent. He didn’t show her how to fill out her log book or give her any basic information about her dives to enter into the log book.
They don’t respond to email once they have you “in their clutches.”
PAYMENT: The payment system. They demand money prior to dives and prefer all dives are fully paid in advance. They won’t take a credit card as a backup in case someone doesn’t pay. They have a THREE day cancellation policy. Every time we got back from a dive Solomon was there demanding payment up front in full for the next 2 days of diving. Innocent until proven guilty does not apply here.
DIVING: The dives offered no shore leave for surface interval. I watched people get sick on the boat on one of the tours which could have been prevented if we’d just gone ashore for a few minutes.
They offered the worst snacks I’d ever seen on a dive boat. They never told divers to drink water before the dives which is so important. My sister-in-law overheated quite dramatically after being told to put on a 5mm wetsuit then required to sit in the full sun for 20 minutes in the wetsuit before entering the water. It’s no wonder she didn’t finish her certification. When I helped her cool off in the water, she was burning up. I’m surprised she didn’t get heat stroke.
There is no fresh water on boat for rinsing off. The rinse tank on the boat was pitiful. There was barely an inch of water in it and it was old stinky water. There is one shower in the middle of the shop and no bathroom or hose offered anywhere near the boat slip or the shop. The shop is a very small box so it’s not very private to take a shower in the middle of it and by the time you get there you’re dry. They do not offer towels.
TOURS: Whale Shark Tour. 2 hour drive and no fresh water to rinse off after the snorkel. The food was ok. No snacks or water offered in the car. AC wasn’t working in the back of the van on the way back.
The two “tours” were way over priced at $200 each for what we received. I would think they could afford to make things more comfortable and entertaining for the cost. Be sure and take your own gear. They don’t EVER have everyone’s gear. They also switch gear around constantly so you never have the same gear twice. This is confusing for beginners who may, for example, have an integrated weight system in one BCD then have to use a weight belt on the next.
FREE PHOTOS: maybe half the time actually done.
My boyfriend and I did 2 dives with Dive Cabo (Gerardo Ayala). They were very professional and did a great job. Just the right amount of guidance and information. Very nice equipment and efficient boat rides to the sites. We travel to Cabo yearly and will definitely use Dive Cabo for future dives. Highly recommend! Their office location is hard to find behind a building in the marina area, don't let other dive shops steer you their way. It happened to us!
A buddy and I take a dive trip every year and this year we chose Cabo. He did most of the planning so I can't say how other dive shops compared price-wise, but I do know one of the reasons we chose Dive Cabo was due to how quick, professional and informative Solomon's responses were to our questions during the planning stage of our trip. Once we started diving with Solomon and his staff, it was evident we chose the right place. We took our own equipment which they washed for us after each dive and stored it at the shop all week, which was a huge perk as there was no need to lug all of our equipment back and forth to the hotel each day. We dove with numerous guides throughout the week and they all were personable, professional and knew the dive sights well. This may be there jobs, but they seemed to enjoy the dives as much as the guests. They even took pictures and videos and loaded them on our flash drives for free. I've had alot of good experiences through the years on our dive trips, but this is the first time I've felt inclined to sit down and write a review. I can't say enough about the entire staff and experiences we had. If you're heading to Cabo and want to do some diving, I highly suggest you give Dive Cabo a shot.
Great proffesional experience with the best price I could find!
Highly recommended . Very professional team. The best experience
Great diving staff! Gear was clean, wetsuits were new and smelt good (if you ever rented a smelly wet suit you know what I mean) and boat crew was chill. 1st dive shop ive ever dove with and they gave all the underwater photos to you for free. Was on point!
I booked on-line a two tank dive for 2 people first week of April and when we arrived at 8am we found out that there was some misunderstanding with the details of the booking, we where on a trip for certified divers and 1 of us wasn't certified so we couldn't go together, we were offered to rebook for another day (an impossible option because our schedule) then, the manager arranged to put us on another trip that same day but at 12:00, so we loose our entire morning but we agree, (we really wanted to dive together) we came back to their office and start the trip, there was like 15 people on a mall boat, the diving location is called "Pelicanos" this place is too crowded, very noisy and the visibility on the water is almost none, they separated the group, then, during the dive I got trouble with the equipment and nobody seems to care until I got to the surface and wave for help to the people on the boat. I ask to return to the office, they agreed and tell me to come down. Long short story, It was a bad experience, I couldn't enjoy the dive with the person I was with, I loose a full day of my vacations and went back home with a bad headache.
I did the discover scuba dive and it was phenomenonal. They did great answering my questions prior to my dive and the experience was awesome. I saw tons of awesome fish, sea lions, a shark, and a stonefish. Although it was freezing for me (Late March 2017), it was still great. It was everything I wanted. Great value as well. The divemasters also have Go Pros and give you the pics and videos for free. Just bring a USB memory stick for them. Highly recommend this place if you want to dive.
I really enjoyed diving with the crew over at dive Cabo. From initial communication to arrival they were very helpful planning out our dives! I was very impressed with their professional. The dive masters also bring GoPros along with them on the dives and send you the footage, FOR FREE! Yeah Hey They offer free nitrox which is a major plus, they know the dive sites well and follow proper diving procedures. If you get the opportunity make sure to dive Gordo Banks with them! The blue water diving was a very unique experience and we saw the largest school of pacific yellow tail and jack fish I have ever seen! The major highlight was the hammerheads!!! Thanks for an all around great experience!
we had only 4 people in our group so it was great attention, so for a first time diving experience- it was great. It was like being in an aquarium. we took 2 dives about half hour each, and our Padi instructor was Jen. I would definitely recommend Dive Cabo.
Great place to come diving when you're at the tip of Mexico! They have a nice area they
take you to, which is near a few giant boulders, great scene. The facility also has wifi, a computer, gopros, lockers, (though only 1 shower and no change room). The staff were extremely prepared and well knowledgeable! Getting certified here is also great if you aren't yet.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Options for all skill levels. Fair prices. They give you photos of your entire dive and it is included in the price. Cesar was our dive guide and he was awesome!
