Beautiful gardens and beautiful rooms. The service can use a makeover though.
We usually eat here after a visit to Mavv camp, food is good and has wonderful views. Staff are very friendly. I have never stayed or been involved at any type of function here
It is a nice place
My time was so good at Hippo View Lodge
Beautiful scenery.
An oasis of service and modernity. Beautiful gardens and good food. Very large complex. Even though there were almost no other guests we got rooms at the farthest end which included lots of walking back and forth between rooms, restaurant and pool. Nice views and atmosphere next to river. Boat rides from hotel is at extortionate prices, use locals down the road. Accepts only cash is a negative as you need lots of it there and it otherwise is a modern facility.
A magnificent lodgeconvenient to explore Liwonde National Park!
It's stunning beware of mosquitoes and bring lots of sunscreen
The place is good and beautiful, but it was congested while I was there - more than 400 guests to be attended to at the restaurant alone!
It's a huge experience been at hippo view lodge and am privilege to site a life hippopotamus.
Nice place and the view is very nice !
It was fantastic and nice
Great view, Good rooms moderate service. Average food
I would not recommend anyone to stay at this place. Very expensive for nothing. The staff and reception are rude and shield their manager when there is problem. We had booked for 4 double deluxe rooms with a baby cot. Most of the rooms were smelling cloak. They provided a baby cot full of dust the first night and we cleaned it ourselves and the next day it was removed from our room. They claimed we had to book it every day. The bathrooms were not clean at all. The air-conditions in the rooms were not working. The owner uses generator sets as power is a general problem in Malawi and he switches them off to save on diesel we were told by staff who did not their names mentioned. The bedsheets and towels are old and not to hotel standard. The dining room is dirty and we got food poisoning. The only thing at this place are the gardens which are well kept. I do not understand the Malawi authorities especially in the Ministry of Tourism can give licence to this place to operate a lodge. One member of our group changed rooms three times and each room had its own problems. When we tried to complain, the manager was in a meeting or something. You could see that the staff are not well treated at this place. They work in fear. Please Find other accommodation in Liwonde than Hippo View Lodge.
Good ambiance, saw hippos basking in the sun as the shallow waters exposed their noses.
Beautiful grounds. Restaurant food was average. Sheets, pillows and bed were fair. Towels were thin. Shower was hot for us but not all in our group. Loud dogs and music at night. Overall, OK not great.
Staff not friendly.Local dishes too expensive.
Nothing to recommend it other than the river frontage with the possibility of sighting hippos (I did). If you have to stay the night in this town, this place is fine. Otherwise go into the park or to a larger city.
