This place is the only one on the island where you can get on a boat to Surin National Park. You can get tickets in other places, but here is where you get the boat from. If you want to swim with the sharks Mr. Gao is the man.
If you want to go on the Surin trip, pleas make sure you book the trip in advance and you make a deposit in forehand. A simple phone call does not book you the trip. This happens because they had a lot of phone confirmations and the people didn't show up.response / report this review -

The Suring islands are gorgeous and you should go there if you can. This review however is about how the trip is organised by Mr Trip.
On the positive side we had a good snacks and vegetarian lunch as requested and the boat is certainly quick, about 2 hours to the islands.
The not so big boat was packed with 27 people +2 staff. 22 of them went snorkeling. Snorkeling was super quick for the price paid, 30-40 minutes and they wave us to go to the next place. Overall 4 places, all bysy with many other boats. And we come back around 3:30.
Also a bit of hello, intro, and general hospitality from the staff would perhaps make a difference but there was nothing like that.
What else is kind of annoying is ubiquitous advertising of Mr trip around the whole island: on the beach, on the trees, everywhere you look chances you'll see their ad banners. Do you really need so much visual waste to run you business?
Overall if you can find alternative go with someone else (competition will make things healthier for everyone), if not go to Suring islands for few nights instead of mrtrip's snorkeling tour, otherwise it is still ok to go with Mr trip.response / report this review -

Nice food at the Restaurant which is located directly at the Beach with a nice view at ao khwai. Bungalows also OK.

we stayed there for a couple of days in January 2017.
it was a kind of mixed experience.
good things first: the restaurant is very good and the staff is extremely friendly and caring. The food is tasty and fresh.
The terrace of the restaurant is directly at the beach and quite charming.
But there a couple of things that did not work out good:
the rooms are quite shabby, I think the last cleaning happend in the late 90s. Only on request they removed the waste and provided new towels after 5 days.
You don´t have a bungalow for your own, there are 2 rooms per bungalow - separated by rotting piece of wood.
Essentially you hear literally everything from your neighbour.
In case they have a crying baby you wouldn´t sleep.
On top they have an old, sick, almost dying dog with some skin problem. It´s preferred place to scratch away its fur was our bungalow terrace. This means: you can not use the small terrace because everything stinks, and you have it´s fur everywhere. Also on the cloths or towel you might have hung up outside.
In the morning at 7:00 am you will wake up for sure (in you case slept because of the crying baby). The family of Mr. Gao heads off with their motorbikes up the hill through all the bungalows - you know how asian motorbikes sound, right?
Mr. Trip (Mr. Trip essentially is Mr. Gao on his speed boat)
Our plan was to stay at Mr. Gao for 4 days and then go to Koh Surin. We already arranged all this weeks upfront with Mr. Gao and he confirmed that he will bring us there. We reserved a bungalow at Koh Surin for that days.
When we were there however, Mr. Gao decided not to go on that day - he could not find any other customers for the trip on that day & showed a calculation on how much money he would be losing on us.
But he promised to go the day after. (we had to change reservations in Koh Surin national park - which is not easy as you might know ;)
The next day he decided not to go because the weather was not good enough.
The day after he did not go because again there were not enough people for the trip.
Essentially it makes no sense to book with Mr. Trip as it´s very unreliable and based on our experience in the end you will not get there.response / report this review -

2600bht for a day trip to Surin Islands, they took us to a very good spots, cristal water reefs. We really enjoyed, this was the jewel of our stay in ko Phayam. 100% recomendable

Great snorkeling day trip to Surin Islands on Mr. Gao's boat. Mr. Gao is friendly, helpful and took us to several good snorkeling spots. The price was cheaper than other day trips and the service was professional. He also provides currency exchange at a fair price, comparable to other services on the Ko Phayam.
