Very basic hotel in terms of service but the rooms have an abundance of character that take you right back to the lives of the poets and authors that wrote here many decades ago! Fantastic architecture!
Directly across the street from the harbor for easy ferry access and a fabulous mint tea service with breakfast too! Don’t miss out on the chance for a perfect view and place to rest in the breeze off the sea!

I stayed at this hotel in the month of February. And I got to tell you. Once you arrive the journey to get into the hotel is unbearable. You are literally around the corner from the Medina. However, the stairs is something that I stayed at this hotel in the month of February and I got to tell you once you arrive the journey to get into the hotel is unbearable you are literally around the corner from the Medina however the stairs is something that is not appropriate to carry luggage.
There is no Bellman to assist you. You will find a lot of people in the street offering help to carry your luggage. Once you check in you'll be surprised to find two twin size beds put together. The staff is not very accommodating and they're not very friendly. You are very far from the airport as well as the center of the Town. However, you are literally in the corner of the Medina, which is perfect. If all you want to do is shop. Other than that there really isn't much left to do. I met someone by the name of Omar. Who was extremely kind and very loving who assisted me in everything and took care of us throughout our stay..
Because of the journey that you have to encounter once you arrive is why I gave this place a three star.

Didn't stay in the hotel, but it's an old historic point worth a quick walk from the medina wall to visit the hotel. There's a cafe with a terrace for people watching and there's an interesting bazaar on site as well.

A quaint interesting hotel with the feel of a one time wealthy residence. The rooms, of varying sizes were very clean and comfortable with sufficient amenities. However, the noise from slamming doors and corridor noise is abundant and sometimes startling. This is partially as a result of poor door locking mechanisms and inconsiderate guests! I stayed for 3 nights breakfast included but only took breakfast twice as my departure time was before breakfast commenced. Breakfast was adequate though the numerous staff could keep items stocked and tables clean, but this appeared too much effort for them. Having arrived earlier than the advised checkin time, i asked if i could have a small glass of mint tea and some water for my pills. I was given this. When I left i was chased down and asked to pay 2€ for this. It would have been nice if some Moroccan welcome and hospitality had been displayed. Nonetheless, a pleasant stay.

The staff was disrespectful and didn't want to take care of sick people and refused to give some sort of roomservice. They let my friend wait for an hour for soup while I was sick in my room.
The rooms were dirty. There was poop in my shower. The building was very noisy. I could hear everything.
I'm writing this review on their wifi, so this is my revenge.

The Hotel Continental was one of the first luxury hotels in Tangier when it opened in 1870. Ships could dock nearby and smaller boats would bring guests to some steep stairs and then they would walk up to the hotel's entrance.

Back in the 1980s, I had a friend whose mother lived in a house on Dar Baroud, directly overlooking this hotel, and there is a wonderful view of both the port and the ocean.

I also have a friend from California who used to rent a room by the month, for three months, so he could write, and his room always had a fabulous ocean view. But the manager who arranged a long-term rate retired, and I don't think the hotel does this any more, which is a shame.

The entire hotel used to be very cheap 30 years ago, but since there are now many daily fast ferries from Tarifa direct to Tangier, there are suddenly more tourists who want to stay overnight rather than just spending a few hours walking around the Medina and the city.

The rooms in the back don't have much of a view and are not the best. But they and the rest of the hotel are very quiet and relaxing. I think the hotel was furnished better years ago, but the owner has now spruced up the rooms and some have antiques and most have baths with hot water only at specific times. Apparently many of the rooms now have heating and air-conditioned so it is possible to stay here in the winter and be comfortable. Personally, I would only stay here if I liked the Medina since it can be a bit ominous at night wandering around Dar Baroud.

I have other friends who live in Tangier and they say that the main restaurant serves excellent food and is worth eating in. It opens for dinner at 7:30 PM. There is a large terrace with view of the port and city beach in front of the hotel where breakfasts are served.

In 1988, the Bernardo Bertolucci film version of Paul Bowles' famous novel The Sheltering Sky, was filmed in Tangier, and a restaurant scene was made here, and many members of the large film crew stayed here.

Although I have never stayed in the Hotel Continental, I have always wanted to do so. The place is a part of history in Tangier and the lobby is amazing. There is also a large gift shop and apparently there is a museum somewhere nearby that was added as a tourist attraction.

Only hotel in the world without fridge in the room but you can use Airconditioning device to cool beer. Continental only the name because no alcohol to buy neither during The dinner. Very Hard acces with the car.

Has its small disadvantages but definitely the best Tanger can offer. Terrific interiors, visit the Souvenir Shop downstairs to See which worldwide famous guests were hosted here. You have the feeling being in 1920s. Staff at reception is the best u feel really that it is their please to help u out!! Breakfast offered is quite poor, eggs always cold. Would also be Nice if there was a rule of quite hours after 22:00 doors slamming do not bring most people in sleep mode. But next time in Tanger we will definitely stay in Continental!

Historical building, lots of Cham very unique. We didn't get the ocean view room but still worth staying there. The Restaurant and the cafeteria is really good, don't missed eating there, price is reasonable, good quality food. Highly recommended.

Very poor service. Fiddly wording when booking a room, wanted a double room for two people with a bathtub (necessary to relieve joint pain) got A twin room for 1 person, with no bathtub. Cost for 1 extra person was double the original price. Putting it well beyond our price range.

Also, reception were not so pleased at being asked for a receipt. We got no help with heavy bags, they could see me hobbling with a sprained ankle and were asked about medical services. Staff did not make life easy when asked for cutlery.

Stunning looking interior but abysmal service.

A cosy historical hotel close to madina (old Arabic city). A parking is included but you need to be ready to drive through madina narrow streets to arrive there. Great views to the Mediterranean.

Faded glory indeed, but well worth a visit. Stay on the edge of the old medina in Tangier. Soak up the sun over breakfast on the same patio that Churchill and Kerouac did in their day. Incredible staff and affordable prices combine with epic views and a great location, making this place hard to beat even 100 years later.

I managed to get a nice room, with all I required, although others may not have been quite so comfy. The decor is of interest and much of the old furniture is left in place for affect/ atmosphere. Breakfast is served in a spectacular tiled room with terrace. Internet was ok, but not fantastic. I would stay again.

"Faded Glory" is the theme here. As a working hotel I can only give this three stars, as the rooms badly need to be refurbished (there is no excuse for a broken shower head for the amount they charge) and the public spaces are shabby. As a grand old place where you can imagine the intrigues that once occurred, this is a five star visit, though. It oozes history. Perhaps you can just come for a meal and then wander about for an hour.

Very mixed bag with this hotel. All the old public areas of the hotel are incredibly beautiful with inlay and gorgeous tiles everywhere. The views 'from' the hotel and looking 'towards' the hotel are stunning. However, the two rooms I stayed in, and all the rooms I saw, were newly renovated as if you went to Home Depot and bought the absolute cheapest flooring, plumbing, lighting, everything The rooms look bad. Also the included breakfast is barely edible. It's as if they've taken an amazing jem and are going out of their way to ruin it. It would have been a million times better if they had never renovated it at all. I'd stay there again because I love the cool old parts and the vibe of the place. It's like the old Chelsea Hotel in NY.

One other thing. The second you leave the hotel gate, you're surrounded by very sketchy people who want to rob you - like for real. Actually a lot of Tangier feels like that.
