As with most other cafes in Morocco it's a total sausage-fest, and pretty run down, BUT if you're into the Beats and you know the history of the place, it's credentials as a classic little café are undeniable.
Worth it for the Tangier aficionado. Great mint tea, classic Moroccan espressos with loads of crema, and fast, attentive service. Cheap as chips too!

An above average cafe terrace in Tangier, with a classic Moroccan clientele. If you're just looking for a simple place for a cafe, tea, or quick snack, it's perfect. But if you want anything more complicated, you've come to the wrong place. Men outside for hours just to get caffeinated and observe the crowd. The wait staff are friendly and quick.

Tourist trap. "We don't have a menu, I'll tell you about our dishes". Doesn't tell you the price, and if you neglect to ask in advance, be prepared to get ripped off for sub-par food. We had stomach trouble for two days after eating their "lamb tangine" which was neither lamb nor tangine, but lukewarm, sloppy beef stew. But we got to pay as if it were a fancy restaurant meal.
The lesson: always be suspicious around the Petit Socco, even the cafés have hustlers.response / report this review -

I've been going to the Cafe Tingis for many years and it hasn't changed a lot with the exception of reliably strong WiFi and a few outdoor umbrellas. A Starbucks this is not, but it is a great place to relax in the Medina and there is sometimes a cooling breeze outside.
Inside sit mainly locals who may watch football games on the flat-screen television. The squat-hole toilets could be modernized and though recently retiled and repainted still possess a grungy appearance.
Outside at various times you will encounter tourists from everywhere who prefer to sit at the Tingis rather than the grandiose tourist trap Cafe Central across the way. While sitting outside at the Cafe Tingis you may eventually encounter locals and Tangier's pretentious and clown-like expatriate gossips.
Simple food such as a Moroccan chicken tagine may be ordered but it is cooked off premises and it is definitely not gourmet food. Do get your price in advance in Dirhams and not in Euros so you do not get ripped off.
The Cafe Tingis is located directly on the small rectangular square called the Petit Socco and it provides a good vantage point for people watching in the Medina. It is conveniently located within walking distance of the downtown port, Kasbah, the Boulevard and shops.response / report this review -

Good tea reasonably priced - served in pots for us (tourists) which isn't always the case in Tanger. Has wifi. Respectable men's and women's toilets.

It was very close to our hostel and our first meal was there.
For 2 teas and 2 sandwiches they charged us 170 Durham. It is 17 Euros.
It is even expensive in Madrid.
They did not give us any recipe. Thanks to it, in our next meals we always asked for the price beforehand.
I don't recommend it at all. Maybe if you are a local. But they take advantage on the tourists.
And the sandwiches were not great either.
