  When you've been to other similar museums this does seem rather pathetic. Most of the stuffed animals are from roadkill and it's obvious from many as they have pretty mashed up faces! Not worth the visit.

  A place to learn and spend some quality time for the whole family- if only the information was also in English and the personnel from this century :-)

  Lots of taxidermy. Interesting exhibits to look at and very cheap entrance fee. Worth a look. It would be much better if there were English translations available though.

  Quite interesting museum. It has few different exhibitions. Huge amount of taxidermy. The only problem is that everything is in Latvian, thought there are cards with some information about each exhibition in English and Russian. Since the museum is cheap and most stuff is interesting even just to look at without additional explanations, it's definitely worth visiting

  Probably the most interesting Latvian museum for science loving schoolkids and their parrents with some interactive displays (eathquake simulation) although not even close to much superior AHHAA Science Centre in Tartu, Estonia. But larger and richer than its Estonian counterpart - Natural History Museum. Mostly stuffed animals and birds placed in their natural environment (model), interresting fossil collection (especially insects and plants in the amber stone) and insightful visual material although often time worn (from 80ties).

  Great place for look and tell games with your children. From dinosaur era to nowadays. Great visuals and descriptions.
