Ussangoda is an unusual landscape situated off Nonagama on Tangalle - Hambantota main road. You have take a road that sealed most of its way toward the beach. However, the last few hundred metres can be really bad. Even though you may not need 4WD it's recommended to travel in a vehicle with good ground clearance. Or you can walk the last bit. The beauty of the land is indescribable! It's got distinctly red earth interspersed with grass. There are occasional bushes here and there as well. This is a fantastic place for bird watching /photography, especially in the evening. It's great for landscape photography as well. A moonlit evening is a great time for one to be @ Ussangoda national park. The origin of the red earth here (surrounding areas have normal earth) is debatable

It is believed that the character of this place has been a result of astroid collied with earth. Must go at evenings, since there is no shading.

It contains different colour of soil compared to the places nearby. People believes the place relating to the story in Ramayana. Part of the land is from Himalayas. Can visit to nearby beach and enjoy the sunset.

The beautiful view in the mornings & evenings. The Ussangoda is a natural beauty place which has unusual ground structure, colour & small trees.There is a specialty of this area than other areas in Sri Lanka.

A spectacular ground in the southern coast.. just 5kms from Nonagama junction. Gravel roads with easy access. Lovable view in mornings and evenings.. A must visit place while driving to katharagama.. Cheers.!!
