This place is must visit place if you are around hambanthita or visiting kataragama.
This is the largest botanical garden in sri lanka about 300 acres .only 120 acre is completely developed remaining 180 is still under development as the garde is still young. They start in 2006 and was opened for the public in 2013. conservation of plants that you can see only in dry zone is one of major objective of this facility.
this garden functions under peradeniya royal botanical garden.

Nice place for spent our leisure time . only one dry zone botanical gardens in Sri lanka . Rout bus is difficult to get usually. Golf vechile are here. canteen and wash room .

It was one of the greatest experience in my life. I never thought that Sri Lankan engineers can build such kind of engineering marvel comprising of Sri Lankan on Herbals and other various plants. The garden was so fast we were only able to cover a small area. We hope that in the future this Garden will come to its maximum height and a last long more than a century.

Really worth visiting this dry zone botanical gardens if you are heading to hambanthota or katharagama side. They have electric golf carts where you can hire with a guide and really can enjoy a comfortable ride In it .

No proper arrangements for internal transport . Allowed only there vehicles. Need to wait until vacent existing one. Can rent push-bicycles which will convenient and attractive. Or drive your own with a fee. Because this is too large to walk.

Very good place to visit though its construction not completed yet. Well organized garden. Coch service is available . They are providing a friendly service with almost complete description. Good experiance ,specially for locals.

The Dry Zone Botanical Gardens is the largest in Sri Lanka. It has been conceptualized, designed, built and operated totally by Sri Lanka. The Park is only 8+ years old. The park has an area of approx. 500 acres but at present only 300 acres are open for viewing as development work on the balance area is in process. This Garden has been well laid out and should be a MUST VISIT on your trip down South. It also boasts of the longest stretch of road [approx. 1-1/2 kms with Weeping Willow Trees on either side]You can access the total area of the park in the comfort of electrical golf buggies, which are very reasonably priced. The total trip takes around 1 to 1-1/2 hours. The Curator/Buggy Operator are well versed with the park and will provide a guided tour. There is only 1 snack bar selling soft drinks,water, biscuits inside the Gardens {as at May 2017].
Ideal times to visit is in the mornings or later afternoons. Park closes at 5.30 pm. The access roads are of very high standards and getting there should not be a problem.

No proper coordination , when we visited we have to Waite for 2 hours to get a car to drive around the park. But the place seems to be important for the students and nature lovers.

This is the largest Botanical garden in the country even though only half of it is constructed. The rest of it is still under construction.
This place is breathtaking. It has a total area of about 500 acres. When finished, it will even host a desert area.
This place is a must see.
