It's quite difficult to locate the place due to the absence of sign boards, hence sometimes you need to get information from the locals in the area. The road to the hotel which falls through Cinnamon cultivations is very difficult but nice, if you travel by car, its better to leave it in the bottom and coordinate with the hotel to get a shuttle. Bring your own booze, because the hotel does not serve alcohol and to the closest wine store, there are 16 km one way. This place is extremely peaceful and privatized. 3 rooms on top of one another, over looking paddy fields, mountains and forest. The staff is very kind and offers you a warm welcome with a drink and wet towels. Rooms and swimming pool are great but need some improvements in finishing. Food was amazing! Great place for honeymooners or a bunch of friends. One important thing : No Wi-fi!

I love this place. Really difficult to make a reservation due to high demand for this place and it's always booked almost every day. Recommend you to make a booking at least three months prior to the date that you are planning to visit this place. This is a perfect place for a weekend getaway. And this place is given on exclusive basis so if you are looking for a place with privacy this is ideal. There are three rooms and can accomodate about ten people as far as I know but even if the reservation comes from a single person they would not accomodate anyone else at the premises during his/her stay. There is a care taker and a cook who would come to handover the keys on your arrival and they will leave. They will not visit the place unless you make a call and ask them to. You can have your food on your own preferred time and the staff will come only during that time to serve the food and they will leave. Their food is soooo good and has a good variety. Other than the guests no one will be present at the venue during the stay. It has an amazing view and a good infinity pool. If you want to have any alcohol drinks I recommend you to take everything you need from outside including chasers because they do not serve any drinks here but there are glasses and bites available. There aren't any shops available closeby in case if you need to get anything but the staff is very helpful if you need anything. There are so many beautiful butterflies around this area and ethnic birds. You can sometimes see monkeys around the area in the mornings but they will be kinda far away from the place but can be seen clearly. Morning view is so beautiful and it's so hard to believe that there is a place in Matugama with such a beautiful view. If you a writer, painter or an environmentalist this is a good place for you. No one would disturb your stay here. Only issue I faced when I visited this place was the wifi and the tv. They don't have any WiFi and tv didn't work either but they had some old DVDs that I was able to watch at night. I do not recommend anyone to travel here by a car because there is a by road that you have to turn towards a mountain when reaching the final destination and its a rough gravel road. This place is located in a private massive land on a mountain.

Very nice place to visit. Peaceful and calm. Only the issue was road to reach to the place. Swimming pool is amazing.

Amazing place. Friendly staff and tasty food. Worth every penny. The stay was not just enough to enjoy the beauty of the place. When you go plan at least two nights :)

Lovely place stay in the middle of the nature. Listen to the forest around you as you curl up in this tree house after dark! Fireflies were at the party too.

It's bit of a travel to get there, but well worth to unwind to the sound of birds. It's a nice couple getaway for a day.

Confirmed our reservation, but cancelled it one hour before check in. We were on our way and had made a LKR 80 500 deposit in advance. This caused big expenses connected to transport and a full day of planning. Guess they doublebooked it..

Fantastic location built on elevated steel structure to give panoramic view of misty hills, sunrise , paddy fields and the village. Has 3 wooden rooms(no a/c) can accomodate 6people. Nice infinity pool available. Staff very helpful and food was tasty . Only 6 km from Welipanna exit of Southern expressway but better go in a 4wd vehicle as the final 500 m has a very steep climb.

Stayed in The Ark with my family. Has excellent views of the valley. Sunrise was great and we were surrounded by the mist.
We had absolute privacy. The staff is discreet, they come to the building only at meal times. The food was very good as well.
The pool was clean, however the motors were not working so no circulation during our stay. The rooms lacked storage, at least a rack or some hooks to hang clothes would have been great to have.
While location and the views are breath taking and the staff is good, I believe the property needs a bit of a face-lift sooner than later.response / report this review
