    This place is governing Srilanka Engineering standard. If you wanna become a Engineer in srilanka it is required membership in institute if Engineer Srilanka. They provide different membership category as student membership, Associate membership, afflicate membership, charted membership, and fellow membership. I ESL is short formate which call institute of engineer srilanka , they provide student membership to who studing engineering science in srilanka university grand commision approved institute. Afflicate membership will provide diploma holder who wish to continue upgrading their status in engineering feild . Associate membership granted for graduate engineering practicener who follow charted .iesl is the only institute who granted charted for engineer. Affter associate member completed charted successfully they will become a charted engineer in srilanka.

    Iesl vusion is "Be amongst the leading professional institutions in engineering and technology in the world. "

    Iesl mission is "To be the apex national body of engineers in Sri Lanka which ensures internationally recognized and locally relevant standards in the professional practice and education in engineering, while actively supporting national development and diligently serving its members and the society at large."

    The Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) is a signatory to  the Washintant accord (WA) and is a member of the International Professional Engineers Agreement, IPEA (formally known as the Engineers Mobility Forum - EMF), which are two internationally recognized agreements.

    The Washington Accord is an international agreement among bodies responsible for accrediting engineering degree programs. It recognizes the substantial equivalency of programs accredited by those bodies and recommends that graduates of programs accredited by any of the signatory bodies be recognized by the other bodies as having met the academic requirements for entry to the practice of engineering.Australia, Canada, Chinese Taipei ,Hong Kong China, India, Ireland, Japan, Korea , Malaysia, New Zealand, Russia Singapore, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom and United States are the other signatories to the Washington Accord.

    The IPEA is an agreement that facilitates cross-border practice by experienced Professional Engineers. In general this means that a Professional Engineer of one IPEA member country will be able to practice in another IPEA member country without being required to obtain any additional qualifications or experience. The other members of the IPEA  are Australia, Canada, Chinese Taipei ,Hong Kong China, India, Ireland, Japan, Korea , Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa,  United Kingdom and United States.

    To obtain the International Professional Engineer - IntPE (Sri Lanka) - status from IESL under IPEA criteria, an applicant has to be a Chartered Engineer with a 4 year engineering degree recognized by IESL plus a minimum of 7 years experience after graduation of which at least 2 years should have been in a responsible position. The assessment will be through a competency based assessment scheme and the applicant should maintain a satisfactory level of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) annually.

    Institute Of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) is a professional body which govern, monitor and standardise the engineering education in sri lanka. It also conduct engineering degree programmes to the school leavers. It also provide Charted Engineering qualification screening and awarding.

    Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka, is the organization for professional engineers in Sri Lanka. Engineers could obtain their professional status and further continues professional development in engineering here. It has a proud history of existence of more than a century serving the engineering community of the island. The active membership is well over 5000 at present.

    All Engineers in Sri Lanka must register with IESL to practice as an engineer. There are good staffs who will assists you for anything. There is a library for engineers too.
