Nutritious, fresh, quality food for a fair price. Practice traditional, ecologically friendly manners in serving the food. Food preparation is done by selected, experienced rural people. Quality of the food is regularly checked by the state authorities.

We were lucky enough to be told about this amazing initiative, Hela Bojun. Delicious food yes, but a great ethos too. The Ministry of Agriculture recently initiated food stalls called ‘Hela Bojun Hal’ islandwide to promote local food among people to create a healthier generation, and! it’s run by women. In an effort to enhance the economy of rural women by spreading their incredible food across the country. We’re sold!

Local, authentic, vegetarian cuisine made by some industrious and friendly women. A terrific work program and a great place to have a real Sri Lankan lunch.
