  Bundala National Park is an internationally important wintering ground for migratory water birds in Sri Lanka. Park is located 251 km southeast of Colombo, close to the City of Hambantota. Park is an excellent choice for birders. You can see lot of birds. Park became the first wetland to be declared as a Ramsar site in Sri Lanka. Recommend to visit

  It is a natural sanctuary which can be used to observe the many birds. Some are migrant birds. You can arrange a safari jeep to observe the inner area of the sanctuary.

  Best place to see both resident an migratory birds in the island. Easily accessible now due to the southern expressway. Not overcrowded like Yala. But of course one will not see the leopards here.

  It was a lovely experience. We took the early morning trip and could identify about 35 species of birds ranging from painted storks, darters, ibis, bee eaters to eagles, spoonbill and dancing peacocks. Unfortunately, the migratory flamingos hadn't come into the park yet. The park is quite extensive with lagoons and the highlights for us were getting to watch sea water crocodiles (muggers) at close quarters and ending the trip by the sea. You get an experienced tracker along with your entry ticket .

  This is a great place for a quick safari. This is one of the best places for bird watching. You can find plenty of rare species. You have to be careful when taking a safari jeep. 3500-4500 Sri Lankan rupees for the safari.

  Good for birding. Resident dry zone birds and migratory waders are plentiful. Semi-arid climate so it'll be very hot during the mid-day.
