Wide collection of Buddhist books: Catchup on your reading. This place has a wide collection of Buddhist books in various languages including English and German and of course Sinhala. The publications cover the entire spectrum of topics in Buddhism. There are DVDs and audios CDs too. The staff is very helpful. There's even a small library in the back. We plan to return when we visit Kandy again.

Well this is the best place to visit if you are looking for books related to Buddhism. Run by a non profit organisation
Books reasonably priced. They have a promoting press of their own and thus able to price their publications at cost

The Buddhist Publication Society if you really are into Buddhism, you just HAVE to go to this fantastic bookstore. They have works in Ancient Pali and Sinhalese, but also in French, German, English, Spanish and other languages on any aspect of Buddhism (collected works (discourses, sutta's, dhammapada, etc), introductions to Buddhism, meditation techniques, medicine, philosophy, history, you name it it's there!)

The staff is VERY helpful, extremely polite and patient and will help you with any questions you have. They will also give you very good advice on which book to buy according to your beliefs and interests, your level of 'advancement" in Buddhist scriptures and so on you can choose not to ask for their help, but you will quickly get lost in the store and overwhelmed by the quantity of books (which is also a good thing take your time while there)

Books are RIDICULOUSLY cheap! I bought a good dozen of books there and payed less than 10 Euros (They print their books with charity/donation money). The average price for a good book is around 200-450 SLR. Some books even go for 30 or 40 SLR. You can't even print a decent flyer for that price in our "civilized" part of the world
