Awe inspiring temples and pagoda with beautiful gardens surrounding the area. We loved that it wasn't too packed. The statues inside the temples were amazing. Plenty of guides to take you around too.

There's a very tall pagoda (the tallest in Kyoto maybe), and a cute little garden.
That's about it.

Not the most beautiful temple in Kyoto. Magnificent pagoda building though. Nearby Kenchi—in is perhaps more serene, and entry to here can bought together so I recommend this.

A series of temples and a pagoda tower. All that packaged together with a small but very pretty garden. There is an 800 yen fee to enter the grounds, but these let you see the pagoda and the the statues in the two buildings. Both which are well worth seeing. The location can easily be reached by the bus from Kyoto station. Overall well worth a visit.

When we went there, they were setting up a stage right in front of the temple, so not really seeing the best of it. Otherwise, it’s got a small but nice garden. Gardening wise, it’s not the most impressive compared to other temples in Kyoto. Can have a look if you stay nearby.

Nice beautiful place with lovely cherry blossoms and beautiful architecture. Cheap price to get in as well.

Nice! Every first Sunday of the month there is a flea market next to the temple, worth the visit.

This place is a little overhyped but still worth visiting if you have time. The structure is huge and you can see it from a couple miles away. Fun, historic venue to visit.

Absolutely amazing, if you only have a few sites to see in Kyoto, make the To Ji Temple one of them. While I have included a photo that I think captures the best part, that's just one of many amazing things to see there; in addition to the temple, there are beautiful gardens, ponds, breathing architecture, small shrines and more. A must see in Kyoto.

There are two halls with several large Buddha statues in them, a moderately sized, but quite plain Japanese garden and the large pagoda.
You can see the pagoda quite well from the free area.
No information in English and photos are forbidden in all the buildings.
Not worth the now ¥800 admission.response / report this review
