Sakura hostel was at first a fast choice on a hurry situation but non regret so far. It can bé difficult to find a nice place not to expensive in Tokyo. Sakura, as I'm writing this review was a good choice. The staff is nice and helpful, they have a variety of cool évents, some WE could even be part of (we got the chance to be samurais and ninjas on our first night), and though the rooms can be a lil colder (in the winter) than we were used to, they provide a lot of accommodations to compensate. Also they have an excellent and cheap breakfast service, a must do, and each floor has a women only dorm and a mix one, which is understandable and absolutely cool. We stayed 5 nights and met lots of internationals and locals. We'll probably come back if around

Great location, good value, a bit noisy though
The great location and convenience almost make up for the noisiness. The hostel is surrounded by shops, restaurants and bars.
The operation of this large hostel is of the more traditional style.
There is a large common area with plenty of tables and seats, and a small kitchen on the side.
24hour front desk with friendly staff.
Many brochures and leaflets at the reception providing all sorts of info and ideas for things to do in Tokyo.
Shared bathrooms on each floor. The cleaniness really depends on the people staying in that floor. On the floor where I stayed for 2 nights, someone managed to flood the female bathroom. It's a mystery how that happened.
Dorm rooms with bunk beds and small lockers. Because it's metal frame bunk bed, it moves and makes noises when you climb on to the upper bunk. I apologised to my lower bunk roommate in advance when I first checked in in the afternoon.
Because of the size of this hostel, it's always full of people. And sometimes people are just loud, no matter the time of day.
So if you like parties or a really energized environment, this will be the place for you.response / report this review -

It's okay, I guess. Decent rooms, modern, pretty central, and they serve (paid) breakfast. But you have to pay for extras (toiletries, breakfast, padlock for the locker, 100¥ more expensive washing machines compared to other hostels). But not bad overall. The staff are friendly and helpful. Fair value.

For the high reviews, my expectations were let down. First off, the check-in process took forever. We probably sat there for a good 30 minutes while my friend was checking in. We stayed at a 6 bedroom room in the basement, and when we first went into the hostel there were mosquitoes everywhere. Needless to say all of us were bitten during the night. Even the shower room had mosquitoes flying.
The pros: The location was definitely good, conveniently located near the Asakusa Shrine and not too far from the various metro stations. Oh and the shower had good water pressure and consistently hot water. Also for the summer, the air conditioning in the room keeps it nice and cool.response / report this review -

My favorite hostel in Tokyo. Great location for sightseeing. The rooms/bunks are the perfect size to be comfortable when you're at the hostel but small enough that you want to be out and about most of the day. The rooms have air conditioning and I've never run out of hot water while showering. The staff are very always friendly and helpful.

Location great next to Sensoji shrine, close to metro stations. Bed is comfy, gets the job done for traveling.

This place wasn't bad but there are plenty of hostels that are better. Decent place but I probably wouldn't stay here again.

Rooms are nice, the beds have blinds so you can get extra privacy. Walls are thin, but has not been a problem so far. Only issue is they only provide you with one key, and to get another you have to put a depositum of 1000 Yen. Overall good hostel for large groups.

This hostel is in a great location if you wish to get to the local shrine or simple explore the neighborhood. The hostel, however, can serve more of a selection for breakfast. Laundry was a big plus, but the hostel itself is way too cold. Please invest in a heating system for the winter, so guests can be more comfortable.

Friendly staff, spoke very good English as our Japanese is minimal. Straight forward charges, but be prepared to come with toiletries or a towel or buy/rent them while you stay. However, even if you have to buy/rent the cost is reasonable and there's a Family Mart less than a block away if you decide to go that way. I was with a group so we got a private room that was 6 twin bunk beds. Very comfortable setting. Clean rooms. Clean bathrooms and conveniently there's bathrooms/showers on every floor though shared (it is a hostel afterall)! What was super amazing is that at last minute we needed a night a week later due to a change in plans. They were accommodating and we were able to book at the front desk. There's also storage in the basement which we used to leave some stuff behind to pick up when we returned. Great location, by tons of things to do or eat, and by various transportation. I will definitely stay here again!
