Prime Kobe beef set in the modern traditional Japanese room. We have an awesome view and a wonderful experience in the onsen! Kobe beef is heavenly delicious! Service is good!

Negiya Ryofukaku is a very old and traditional ryokan. I think traditional ryokan are wonderful, but this one could really use some upgrades. First of all, it wasn't really clean. For example, the onsen outside was very dirty with leaves everywhere; it looked almost abandoned.
The staff was nice and helpful, but I can't really recommend this ryokan. It's overpriced and overadvertised. For one night with dinner and breakfast, I paid $318 dollars, and after dinner I still was hungry because the portions were so small.
The ryokan also was lacking a convenient elevator, resulting in my having to take many stairs. I recognize that there may be structural reasons for this, but many visitors may find this difficult to deal with.
I've stayed in 4 similar places so far on my trip to Japan, and this onsen is the one I found the least satisfactory.response / report this review -

The hotel is strategically located but the car entrance to it is rather concealed. Limited parking slots makes parking less than easy. The hot tubs and the services are excellent as the price is not cheap!

Great staff and service. They speak enough english to not make you feel too uneasy or lost. The dinner service and and turn down service is impeccable, was so excited to see what next unidentified delicious morsel would come out. Sleeping on the fluffiest futons on the tatami mats is a pleasant surprise
The baths are slightly small but enough for the traffic of people to have their own space and time
There are only 2 hot pools each house. Then you switch to the other house with 2 pools also the next day. Great amenities! Very authentic experience.response / report this review -

It was an amazing experience, very tranquil and relaxing. I would highly recommened going to their baths( you can even reserve a private bath). The location is right by the station, but i would recommend a longer trip over mount rokko for anyone visiting! they do also offer a free shuttle service. Lots and lots of food served at each meal, I would highly recommend making sure you get a meal plan with kobe beef, as it is wonderful!

The first Ryokan I've been to, but it blew away my expectations. As an American the food they served at dinner and breakfast was a bit shocking. Sardines that tasted like they caught them that morning. Octopus in the salad. It was a little weird and I was apprehensive at first but it wasn't too bad. The staff was very friendly and courteous. However the room attendants spoke very little English, so brush up on your Japanese.

I had a relaxing time here! It was a little far away but worth the escape to a small town. Going up the hill wasn't pleasant, but they have free shuttles we took advantage of when leaving. Their English isn't that great, but I overheard them assisting guests in Mandarin. Overall, the staff were still very courteous and did everything they could to make us comfortable.
Our breakfast here was also delicious. We had a beautiful meal set out for us and our kitchen staff happily told us about the dishes.
The kaiseki dinner was so filling! They brought it to our rooms.
Onsen was the highlight and you must go both in the morning and night for different views. My skin was refreshed after our two days here.

It was too hard to carry my baggage to my room at 3rd floor. But bathe in the hot springs was great.
