Old fashioned holiday hotel, you will love it if you look for yesterday style

I stayed two nights in this cosy hotel. Room is clean and staff is freindly. Location is also great to access down town near Beppu station. Blackfast and dinner is served as Japanese style and taste is good. One drawback is public hot spring bath water. It is not clean during all my stays. Specially, 6th floor out door poblic hot spring. If they fix it, I will visit again.

Staff is very friendly even before entry, offering to valet our vehicle from just outside the main door. Room was clean upon check-in and the interiors were well maintained.

We were somewhat disappointed because there was construction in front of our sea view. Although this may no longer be a valid point in the future, the experience nevertheless should have warranted a rate discount or pre-booking warning as the rates are not cheap. The hotel WiFi internet connection was terrible (it is either their hardware is of poor quality/capacity or they subscribed to insufficient bandwidth). I've never experienced such anti-customer hotel rules of check-in time 3pm; check-out at 10am so for an overnight stay, the 19 hours allowed makes it an exorbitant hourly rate! On the bright side, they have very friendly staff so not their fault in that I can only attribute my whining to management policies

Intimate, friendly and spacious. Clean, fresh and with great views. Set meals are very tasty and change from day to day.

Located about a 10 minute walk from Beppu station, New Matsumi is relatively convenient to get to on foot or by taxi. Our rooms were very clean and seemed recently renovated. Contrary to information found online, the hotel had designated non-smoking rooms and there was no residual smoke smell in our room. Amenities were also clean and easy access. We also had dinner and breakfast here and both meals were delicious. Would definitely stay again.

old building. poor structure. but touching details. you can never provide such moving detailed facillities without really devoted mind. and food was just great. they are real pros.
