Very nice ryokan with an excellent outdoor onsen. The meals are excellent and generous. Take much effort to finish the food.

    Great value for the price.

strongly recomend to use private hot spring.(costs extra¥1,000/1h,needs reservation)
so you can take a bath with your partner.
caution:there is no shower.so you would better use public hot spring first, then go to reservation bath.
Dinner is also good. there are some pieces of Hida beef. They are enough for ordinary Japanese people.

Went for a day trip onsen experience. Place was relatively quiet and no reservations prior required. The private onsen was a little dirty. Staff were attentive and helpful.

Friendly staff, nice rooms and very good baths.

We were four guys in one room, it was a little crowded but worked for sure.

You could stay in a traditional room with breakfast and optional dinner or you could decide to stay the budget way in a very simple semi-closed booth. We decided to stay in the booth. We were satisfied thanks to the nice onsen. Don't expect anything more than the essentials though!
It only costs 1900yen per person per night (so 700yen more than going to the onsen without staying at all) and includes the usage of a locker, the onsens, a yukata, a face towel, a resting room with lots of comfortable relaxing chairs, and a sleeping booth. We got a pair booth which simply has 2 mats, pillows, and blankets. The walls are only around 1m high so there is barely any privacy and you shouldn't leave valuables there. The light is very dimmed though, so you can't really look into other people's booths well.
In the basement of the building, you can find a restaurant with good, reasonable food.
The onsens are really nice and you can also rent a private onsen (1000yen per hour or 2000yen for 2 hours including a stone spa/sauna). This was definitely the highlight.

For everyone staying more than one night, I wouldn't recommend the booths though as they are pretty uncomfortable and very basic.

Loud and noisy, old, stinky and the rooms are just poor. Rude receptionist. No English speaking staff. You can get much more for the money in this area.
    Food was great though.
