The hotel has some nice offerings and a nice breakfast plus the complimentary ramen service is a fun thing. Washing is free here too. The men's onsen is very nice, however the women's onsen is lacking, it only has the onsen pool not the sauna or cold bath, nor the smaller barrel baths.
The main issue in this hotel however are the rooms. We have been in several hotels now on Kyoto and Tokyo and compare the rooms to our other experiences there.
Firstly they are old and dark. They almost feel claustoforbic due to the small window. Our room I'm Tokyo was smaller but the large window and modern interior made it feel large and relaxing.
Secondly it is DARK!!! there are not enough lights.. I almost have to wip out a flashlight inside our room when I want to find something in my luggage This is completely UNACCEPTABLE!! we went out and bought a table light since it was so unbearable. Finally the bed is rock solid. Yes beds are hard in Japan, but this one beat the records in hardness. It is so hard that I almost just wanted to sleep on the rugged floor Seriously our backs and shoulders sometimes hurt when we woke up in the mornings. This did not happen in the similarly priced hotels on Kyoto and Tokyo.
Unless you are male and love onsens then I would strongly advice you to find something else. At this price point it can only be better.response / report this review -

If you have checked in Dormy Inn Premium in the vicinity, you can quickly tell the difference between the upmarket version and the ordinary one. This ordinary one provides the standard extra services ie free noodles from 2100-2300 and hot tubs. Its neigbourhood is refreshing in terms of window shopping and outdoor eating.

Nice little hotel, mattresses where firm, bath was relaxing, breakfast was pretty tasty as well. All and all pretty good for the money.
