Very nice roykan. Great for tourists.
Not what you would think of as a traditional ryokan on the outside, it is a concrete building typical of so much modern Japanese architecture. The rooms, however are very nice tatami mat and futon sleeping arrangement with small bath.
The rooms are clean, staff is very helpful, they do have laundry machine, good wifi and speak English.
The location is great, near Nippori station on Yamanote line and just one block from Chiyoda subway. Plenty of mom & pop traditional restaurants nearby, however many close around 8 - 10, (most are tourist-friendly). 7-11 right across the street with an international ATM, morning coffee, evening snacks & beer.
The neighborhood walking up to Nippori station has plenty of traditional shops and architecture (apparently wasn't bombed during the war). The shops range from kimonos to drug stores, to anything kawaii cat merchandise.
All in all a perfect place to stay while visiting Tokyo, great neighborhood, great rates, clean place, and friendly staff.
The rooms are nice and its centered inside a very nice district. The service is good, helpful, and speaks english.
Been staying here as my go to ryokan for 3 years. Excellent area right by 2 train stations and surrounded by great alleyway and food.
Everything's very clean, both rooms and bathrooms.
Despite being in the most populous city in the world, is a very quiet ryokan.
A good conditioned air allows to live there in summer ^_^
Owners are very kind and helpful with tourists, and help them in many ways.
Furthermore the proximity to the Nippori Station, on the Yamanote Line, is a very useful detail.
Yanaka is a great place to be in Tokyo. Annex katsutaro is really good to stay. People helpful and friendly. Room perfect and clean.
Room was traditional mats with futon bedding. Bathroom was small but adequate. Proprietor was great and helpful for eating and shopping recommendations. Slight 'old' smell but wasn't bothersome. Great price and location in a cool neighborhood of Tokyo.
Stayed at the Annex for 2 weeks in April 2013 and was very happy with the whole experience. the room i stayed in, was a japan style room with its own bathroom and tatami floor with a futon bed, quite a new experience for a guy from germany^^. The friendly staff made me feel very welcome and helped whenever i had a question about transportation or the general Tokyo Area. Located in the quite Yanaka district is this Ryokan only a few minutes away from the JR Nippori station and right in front is the Sendagi station by Tokyo Metro which made my trips arround the Greater Tokyo Area very easy to organize. I really enjoyed my stay here and will try to get a room again when i visit Japan in May 2014.
