The most Traditional and famous place in Gero Onsen The whole facility is designated as national treasure
One of the greatest onsens in Gifu prefecture. Situated closest to the spring in Gero, Yunoshimakan gets the hottest water and has the longest history.
The hotel features two sets of hot springs, one for women and one for men, changing every day. The best plan in my opinion is to stay two nights and try both sides, as they are a bit different.
The hotel itself has seen it's share of years and is starting to feel it, but the Japanese hospitality and the (absolutely exeptional) full-course dinners served to the rooms by skilled staff make stays worth every penny. The town of Gero is also beautiful and peaceful, giving a lot to look at by means of rural peace in the mountains.
We loved our honeymoon stay here. The service is top notch and the rooms are spotlessly clean. We had the dinner in our room and breakfast and the food was incredible.
Poor poor poor; zero hospitality. Very rude staff at entrance and manager watched. We took our business elsewhere. All the while we were absolutely silent and respectful. Will ABSOLUTLEY NOT recommend this place afterany other pleasant experience in Gero. An embarrassment to Japan!
I really enjoyed every part of my time here except the check-in process. That was chaotic. But the food, the baths, the service and atmosphere were all exactly what I was looking for in a quiet onsen
Great service. English speaking friendly
Great place with great service. The food is perfect, the hot spring is wonderful. I can't think anything I disagree here. Spend a night here and you will have the same comment like me.
The hot spring was great. We stayed in the room with an indoor hot spring bath. The Japanese style dinner was served in the room. It's amazing. The reason that I don't give this hotel five stars, for its family bath interior was a little bit too old and crappy. But you can put it in the way as historical. Generally speaking ,fabulous.
Staff is very professional. When I arrived at the Yoshimakan, staff welcome our group immediately. You can feel the different from other Ryokan. My room is in first floor can see view from garden.
Dinner is Kaiseki Ryori. Breakfast is a traditional Japanese food. Our group think that food has a flaw. Because when we stay here view is great, room is also good but dinner and breakfast are not quite our taste.
If you stay here, you will need a car because Yoshimakan is separate location so to walk and see Gero's city you, it's quite far if you walk from here.
The hotel is very run down and needs serious renovations. Heating system is vintage and the hotel was freezing inside. Service is not up to an onsen hotel standard. Our rooms were not ready when we checked in. Our worst onsen hotel experience. We were very disappointed!
