Look past the cosmetic issues (paint etc) and you will realize that this little resort is amazing. Ciiffs and water were breathtaking. The food was home cooked and they are liberal with the 'beverages'. Pillar House is the way to go. Has A/C and mini fridge. Would book again! Thank you!

I would never stay here again. The place was clean but run down and the staff was very unhelpful. The did was unremarkable but OK. It rained the night and water came in under the door and wet the room floor. They're was no wifi or cellphone signal in the room. On check out when expressing our issues I was told "That's just Jamaica for you" which meant absolutely nothing.

This is a small resort that really feels like stepping back into the 70s before the giant all-inclusives with a thousand guests took over. It only has about 40 rooms and the meals are all homemade and it feels very cozy and laid back. If you're looking for a lot of features and a huge buffet this isn't for you, but after visiting some crowded beaches nearby we were really happy to be staying here. As the title implies, you should be a decent swimmer and it isn't a great location for kids as there isn't anywhere at the resort you can wade into the water or lie in the sand. They have a sister resort on the beach and a complimentary shuttle service to get there, which we only used once. The beach is nice, but peace and quiet by the ocean are even better. It certainly isn't a brand new resort, but if you have an understanding of the history and nostalgic feel of the location, it's a really great experience.

I loved this place! Been busy since we've gotten back but had to write a review! This place is awesome and the people are the best. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is b/c the food could have been better. The room we knew somewhat were going to be "not 5 starts" but it was OK. I like how our room had a nice little porch/patio where we sat and enjoyed the view, but they could update rooms a little bit.The cliff was another great experience within the hotel. Jumping off the cliffs in the mornings and evenings was great!
This place is great and I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a chill and laid back vibe. Definitely would book here again!

I loved it! It is not a 5 star hotel so if you want an upscale resort, this is NOT the place for you. Now, if you are looking for a warm, friendly, environment, then you've found the right place! I was there for mine and my friends birthdays in July and they even sang to her and cut her a cake. The staff is so attentive and friendly. Randy Lee and Ian are the best waiters and hosts, they greet you with a smile at all hours, constantly refill your glasses, and do their best to make sure your dining experience is great. The meals again, are NOT gourmet, they are Jamaican styled cooked meals which I loved! The view from the cliffs were magnificent, the sunsets, and the pool area were really cool. Phelita will help you plan excursions with her friendly demeanor. Omar, the driver is friendly, funny, and will take you anywhere you need to go. The rooms were modest, air conditioned with modern satellite tv, but the bathrooms could be upgraded. Legends has a beautiful crystal beach with shops right across the street. All in all, I would definitely return to Samsara, it has a relaxed environment which I adored.

The views are beautiful from both the cliffs and the beach (at legends). The all-inclusive package is worth it if you intend to drink alcohol, however the food was average. Rooms were clean, make sure to bring your own toiletries as there are no travel shampoos or conditioners provided.

Great staff and a great vibe. The rooms are a bit run down but the staff are amazing and the cliffs are fun to jump off. Every morning started with a dive in the ocean.

This is a real no frills all inclusive experience. Do not expect fabulous rooms or fancy food. In fact the buffet repeated the same dinner for us in less than a week.

The dinner buffet was usually limited to 3 or 4 hot items plus soup. The cake for dessert was nice.

Anyway if you want a real Jamaican no frills jumping off point this is a great place to start. I loved it.

Samsara was a great place to stay in Negril. I made friends with people staying in other rooms, with locals, and the people working there were all pretty lovely. The room was nice and they thoroughly cleaned it daily around noon with fresh towels and soaps. They clean with the door wide open and are very friendly. I didn't worry that they'd steal anything from my bags. The room is a tad outdated, but who travels outside of the country and stays in the hotel room all day? Is that honestly a good enough reason to complain about the hotel? Not in my opinion. No bugs, no mold or leaksI also remember reading a lot of reviews that said they only gave you one towel the entire stay.. which isn't true at all. They gave us two large towels, one smaller towel, and two fresh hand towels EVERY DAY when they cleaned our bathroom. There is a travel advisor/coordinator named Philifa that helps you with excursions the day after you arrive. She's very sweet and funny. Also the A/C worked wonderfully and kept the room very chill. We even had to turn it off a few times because of how cold it got. The beach off the cliffs is absolutely gorgeous and refreshing. A truly great view that is worth seeing every day and swimming in, too! Sunset was beyond words. The all inclusive food was honestly really good and I consider myself picky. They made fresh egg omelets every morning, had a great lunch, and an even better dinner outside by the cliffs. On Friday night we took a free ride to Legends for their special night (but no live music or fire throwing was occurring although that's what it said) and on Sunday Samsara had a lovely live music night which was fantastic. They have a little gift shop in the hotel with some nice and relatively cheap stuff. Marijuana galore! I'd recommend to a friend and I have no complaints and I would be very careful with whose reviews you take into consideration. A lot of people just go around bad-mouthing places when they didn't get their way or when one little thing went sour during their stay. It made me almost regret booking the hotel but once I got there- till the day I left- I truly had no complaints. If you're a pretentious, high-maintenance, hoity toity snob then this place may not be for you. But if you're a normal person that just wants a nice and relaxing experience in a hotel in Negril.. I can recommend you this one!

Nice spot at the sea. However when not all inclusive, food can be expensive compared to local restaurants and is not always better than local restaurants. Internet connection not really stable.
    Though relaxing place to be.

I stayed at this resort for 5days and 4nights- With my husband and mother-The young lady who checked us in was nice--I thought --turns out she was GREAT - JENIQUE- Helped me with a lot and was more than friendly..she was kind and patient. She worked most in the evenings and I couldn't help but tip her.. she was so sweet ..even when I said not happy.. but that was all me. The driver NEWTON-he was ok. Late picking us up on --when I asked him to be back in an hour.. but the day before .. he was really nice.
OMAR-another driver.. I really like him..and when I come back he will be the one I use GEORGIA--COOKED our evening meals and danced when the band was there.. she was so sweet.. the young lady who cooked our breakfast eggs was super sweet and kind.. the only wait staff I like was a lighter complexion young lady sweet energy, kind heart and nice smile. The others .. always looked like they had sucked a lemon.. and I did a lot of tipping

The bartender at first I wasn't sure.. and I know how our jobs can get.. but .. at the end of the day SHERONA SCOTT.. had a small for me and my husband.. I liked her.. and would revisit.. just for her..and Jenique..and GEORGIA--

My mom wasn't happy with her room --when it came to cleanliness and we were short on wash clothes one day..But it didn't cause any real issues.. I loved everyday.. MY ONLY REQUEST IS TO COOK ONE MEAL A DAY THAT IS A JAMAICAN MEAL YOU KNOW LIKE SALT FISH AND ACKEE--OFFER CONCH-- MORE LOCAL FOODS

THERE SHOULD BE A GUEST HOST OF SOME KIND TO GET A EVENING PARTY GOING EVERY NIGHT.. OR WHEN YOU HAVE THE MOST CHECK INS- OR JUST TWO NIGHTS A WEEK..

Staying on the cliffs is the way to go.. Legends may have a beach but--they also have too too many people trying to sale you JUNK.. and you can't jump in the water.YES!!!!!

SO to my friends at SAMSARA.. keep up the good work and all VISITORSPLEASE TIP--- TIP--TIP-- TIP.

We stayed at this dump..July 27 to August 3 my worst experience of all time..Eight family members from California stayed there to celebrate one of our birthdays. Front desk women very rude.. Baldheaded bartender made the worst drinks. We ordered the same thing every time and she had to be told how to make it

This "resort" is the absolute worst! My wife and I purchased a villa with an ocean view, which turned out to be a little hut that was surrounded by trees. In other words, no view of the beach. The food is awful, the rooms were pretty shotty, and the maid stole $100 from us, within the first five minutes we arrived. I would suggest staying on the cliffs side because it is a beautiful view and very private.. but stay away from this place! If I could do it all over again, I would spend the extra money to have at least a decent resort. BEWARE!
