If you are looking for glitz and glam, this hotel is not for you. It has the bare necessities. I didn't plan on spending much time in my room so it worked perfectly. It would have been nice to have a mini fridge and a microwave. Also the last time it was updated was 2014. I love the staff especially Ms Yvonne.

Donway is an inexpensive hotel/apartment complex where you can enjoy the simple luxuries of a vacation. Firstly, the pictures seen on the google reviews are accurate. The rooms and 100% accurate. ADVANTAGES - 1. Located closest to the famous Doctor's Cave Beach (Five star rating in my opinion), Donway, A Jamaican Style Village has it's very own Bar and Grill for its guests who will enjoy the opportunity of relaxing in its comfortable air-conditioned rooms, a nice king/queen size bed, refrigerator, safe/vault and modern bathroom. 2. My wife and I thought of going on a quick vacation (mainly to enjoy the beach and to bring the curtains down for 2017) without having to spend too much money for somewhere to lay our head for just one night. We took a chance with this hotel and we gambled right! We found ourselves another 3 star hotel with a lot of potential. 3. Donway is an ultra safe gated hotel spot with two main gates, one to enter the Bar and Grill/Reception desk and the other gate secures the parking area. At nights security patrols the compound and ensures the safety of the guests. DISADVANTAGES - 1. The Operations Manager needs to be on top of his/her job. There needs to be landscaping done (which I can recommend someone) and rid the garden of spiders which EVERY woman hates (my wife more than others). 2. Customer service is key, and I overheard a few British women complaining about someone on staff barging into their room without knocking or identifying themselves. Donway, this cannot happen. Your reputation is always at stake. Your customers are EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. 3. All rooms need to be ready by 3pm each day! There can be potential customers who walk in. Apart from that, I give this hotel 3.5 stars. Definitely will visit again.

Come on over and be pamper in our luxurious Spa in a clean envornment with professional and customer service friendly Massage Therapist, Nail Technician, Esthetician and Barbers.

Front desk clerk was friendly but nonchalant. Room was dark, the safe was nonoperational.when I asked about it he was going to bring a keynever did. No ironing board, iron and had to ask for tissue. The lighting was horrible. The place was 2 miles from the airport and my husband and I stayed one night to be close to the airport. Cheap prices.I see why.

The company has operation next to the Donway Plaza and conducted a meeting with a new job applicant in the cafe. Drinks were purchased, but I guess we stayed too long, because a worker came in moving chairs around very loudly, then the air conditioner was turned off. This was done on purpose and confirmed by one of their former employee.
To top it off, the interviewee to pay $100 JD to use the toilet. When we questioned this, they said that we could go somewhere else to use the bathroom. Charging to use a bathroom in a cafe/restaurant with seating is illegal in Jamaica.
We deal with hundreds of tourists daily and had plan to direct many there; due to their deplorable behavior, we will not use this establishment nor give a positive recommendation.

Big and clean rooms, perfect for staying just few days. It's close to the beaches. Real problem was the excessive sound coming from music outside.

The room were exceptionally clean and the bed was very comfortable. Sheets and and towels were sparkling white. All staff were friendly and approachable. Would highly recommend this stay.
However, the air outside the communal area was constantly filled with the smell of weed which seemed to be smoked locals dropping by. This really spoilt my outdoor relaxing experience in the evenings and even in the mornings.
Less weed aroma will make this place for me an excellent place for a short stay. If you are worried about your children and secondary smoking be aware.response / report this review
