make a reservation--people line up to enter this restaurant that seems small from the outside, but is very roomy inside. Both food and service were excellent--highly recommend. Easy to locate near the Santa Maria Novella Piazza.

Wonderful evening with tasty local cuisine and engaging warm staff. Traditional fare that is simple, holding to its roots, and prepared very well. Highly recommended to us and we whole heartily agree. If possible, ask for Aldo, and he will entertain and charm. He correctly diverted us from "Italian" choice to one more "Florentine." Very fair pricing.

Very friendly service and the greatest steak I have. We had great time and enjoyed atmosphere there. They also present gift to lady gusto. Definitely will visit again if we come to Firenze. 4ppl share two-persons T-bone steak, thick soup, seafood pasta and one salad.

We went to this place in Aug 2017 after reading several positive reviews. This place is a complete tourist trap. The place is very brightly lit, tables very closely spaced, extremely noisy and hot!! As a Michelin recommended restaurant, we were expecting high quality food, ambience and service, but we did not get either. We have been to several Michelin star as well as Michelin recommended restaurants , but this one was way below average. Service was not great, servers seemed overwhelmed with the volume. We ordered the T bone steak which was ok but not worth the price. They even charged cover charge of $4 per person. During our stay in Florence that only some Florence restaurants, the poor quality ones charged a cover charge. With prices as they are in Buca Mario, the cover charge was not necessary since we did not even touch the bread.
Overall dissatisfied, and will not recommend this place.response / report this review -

It's best to reserve a table -it gets very full! The staff are so welcoming and attentive. The steak Fiorentina is to die for! The restaurant has a lovely historic feel, too. The price is high, but well worthwhile for a special occasion Like a trip to Florence.

Great experience! The food is great (4 people, we had 4 diiferent meals, all were great) and the staff is extremly friendly. We had a very good evening at Buca Mario. I totally recommend this ristorante!

A recommended stop in most guidebooks, so it can feel like it is full of tourists - but there is good reason for it to be recommended. Great food and service and the alcohol also flows very freely. The steak - to die for.

Our Favorite Meal in Italy! We had such a nice evening at Buca Mario - wonderful service, delicious food, and a great atmosphere.
We were able to enjoy a variety of items on the menu but our favorite was the steak - enough meat to feed a family of 4 but simply delish!
