What a joke !! Big brother is watching ;-)
There were no one in the hotel. Had to call the owner by phone, a busy mother who was just keen on ripping off the tourists. Our private bathroom was very dirty, many hairs and full of calcium. One of the door felt off when I tried to close it. Then I decided to use the share bathroom which was even worst. The shower was leaking and the water just switching from super cold to super hot in one instant.
And I felt like being in a reality show, cameras in every corners to spy the customers ;-)

The good parts: the beautiful wooden architecture of the hotel and the hot tub. The cons: the size of the room and the rather disappointing breakfast.
The hotel is situated beautifully in front of a cliff, you can hear the gulls when you're outside the hotel. Eyjafjallajokull is literally at it's door step. The rooms were a little disappointed in size, but at least it was clean. The bathroom was clean as well. Racks to hang your clothes. The dining area was small as well, couldn't accommodate everyone during breakfast time. The hot tub was great, soaking in the hot water while looking at the mountains was a joy. There wasn't too much variety at the breakfast but it was sufficient.response / report this review -

Location is really nice as a base for exploring during the day and, in general, facilities are clean and very good including well-provisioned continental breakfast, WiFi, shared fridge & hot tub. On the downside, shower facilities are limited to a shared one, only accessible via the dining area and more than a little past its prime (a good clean wouldn't go amiss!) Additionally - and while it didn't really detract from our experience too much - it would've been nice for the two members of staff (owners?) we saw working during breakfast to smile, say Hi or at least acknowledge the guests rather than completely ignoring everyone

After reading a few negative commenst about this place I'd like to write down our experience. We had no trouble at all making a reservation for a room.
Indeed when you arrive there is no one present to help you, but in my opinion everything was clear in the mail we received after confirming our booking. It took us a few minutes to figure out where our room was, but once we found it we had no trouble getting our key from the lock and getting installed. The room itself might have been a bit dusty and somewhat small but seeing the price we paid we had no problem with this. Our room was equipped with a seperate bathroom, so not a shared shower/bathroom as someone mentioned before.
Breakfast was basic but we were happy to get something into our stomache before heading out. The dining room is not that large but there weren't many more guests so that wasn't a problem. The staff that was present at the time of the breakfast was always friendly and helpful.
All in all we had a positive experience with this place. Very scenic location with a nice hot tub which was a plus. Definately would recommend.response / report this review -

Lovely place, very wooden and is nice and warm in the snow. Really enjoyed staying here and felt comfortable as if i were in my own home. Lovely breakfast, although the breakfast seating area could be expanded a little to provide more seating.

I am planning my route and booking hotels in Iceland. I was tired and put incorrect date while booking this hotel and I have kindly asked to change check-in date by one day forward, but they have simply charged my credit card. I am booking hotels in 2 months in advance, so it should not be a problem for them. It says much about customer care. I highly recommend to consider another accomodation options.

The worst customer service I have ever seen. I have visited over 25 different country’s and have never seen such arrogant indifference towards their clients. After they get your money, screw you, you are on your own. I am so mad with them I have gotten in contact with my credit card's fraud department. If I could give them a negative star number, I would give them the maximum.

Fantastic serene mistic place to stay. You would love it. Next to a majestic mountain. People don't know English. Breakfast is only at 8 am not a minute before.

It seems that each room has different offers. Ours (room 107) was spacious, clean, and fully functional, located just next to the outdoor hot tub. Yes you can hear the neighbors upstairs dragging their suitcase but once they settled all became quiet again.
We followed the instruction to get the key and had no issue at all checking in, in fact I kinda prefer this method since you don't have to wait in line at the traditional reception.
Breakfast was basic but plentiful, the staffs was helpful enough but limited by their non existent English. At least they tried to be helpful.
So overall it was quite a pleasant stay for us.response / report this review -

It should be called the "NOT-Welcome" Hotel Lambafell. The owner treated us with contempt. She literally refused to allow us to eat breakfast (we paid for it). She audibly laughed at our request for help when several expressly included amenities were not working (no WiFi, no hair dryer, smelly towels, little hot water). Bad construction (if you are on the bottom floor, you will hear everything above). Deceptive (reservation stated in-3PM, out-11AM, but signs posted throughout "hotel" stated 4PM, 10AM). During the peak season, this region is in such high demand with so little supply that this property is able to charge an outrageous rate while treating unsuspecting guests poorly and denying them the basics. Unless there is new ownership, please avoid.

The worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. It wasn't exactly cheap either at around $350 per night. We stayed there last year and its a nice location and a decent wooden construction but that's the only positive thing about this place. There is no staff to help out if you need anything. The lady who owns this place is the only person you can find here for any help and she was very rude to everyone. One of the customers had an issue with her and so she called the phone number listed for customer service hoping to complain about her but she couldn't believe it when the same rude lady answered the phone! The same rude lady would watch over all the guests as we ate breakfast making us very uncomfortable. A couple tried to take a fruit with them and the lady yelled at them and made a huge scene. We stayed in the first floor and there was a couple above us on the second floor. The floors creaked every time someone walked around and we could barely sleep. Anyhow, please do yourself a favor and stay away from this place.

For the price point you'd hope someone is there to check you in and help answer any questions. Not the case. Self check-in and nobody responded after we called number provided to answer any questions. We were not the only guests having trouble checking in. Only after accidentally finding an open whatsapp on the tablet were we able to speak with someone and even then everyones question are publicly displayed. Not to mention absurd check-in(4pm) and check-out hours (10am)

The Lincoln log hotel of your dreams. This place is amazing. The location is right up against the hill with nesting birds at the top. The hot tub is fead with the natural hot springs in the area.

Well located to explore the South. Checking in was a breeze and we had a pretty nice room with a balcony and a great view on the mountain.
Watching the sunset in the hot tub right next to the room is definitely a plus after a hiking day.

Great location with 2 major waterfall sites. Hot tub on location, natural pool nearby, beautiful scenery includes continental breakfast. Self checkin/out, no hair dryers or laundry.

DON'T BELIEVE THE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK! The lodge is impressive - beautiful woodwork - massive wood beams as you would expect from a secluded place surrounded by snow, mountain and endless fields, the rooms are comfortable and clean and they have a hot tub - which, granted, hadn't been cleaned out, but let's face it, you've swam in dirtier lakes! The main gripe people have is that it doesn't have a reception and you find your key in a key box by your room, which you open with a code they email you. As long as you remember to get the code, you're fine! Moreover, after having stayed at a few cottages, this is the IS way - they leave the key out for you and frankly, if it makes the stay cheaper, by not having to cover 24 hrs shifts for not that much activity, why not?? Highly recommend it!

AVOID BOOKING HERE. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. NO ONE AVAILABLE TO HELP ON SITE.
We booked one night while driving the Ring Road during winter. If you are planning on going to Iceland spend the night somewhere else!
Yes, the pictures look good, and the hotel is located right next to the volcano mountains, but that does not make up for a lack of staff or help on site. We arrived at the hotel after a long day out around 7pm, looking refuge from the cold. We had previously booked at least 15 days in advance. To our surprise, nobody was at the reception or entire place when we arrived. We never received said e-mail for self-check in. There was a phone with two numbers to dial for help with check-in, but no one answered. We called again and again, every 10-15 minutes for about two hours! no keys, nothing. We had to end up knocking on every single door, until we found a couple staying in a room. They told us they had had the same problem earlier that day. After two hours, Sergei, a man who said was security, but we believe is probably the owner or manager after he caught himself in a lie, came because he saw us on the cameras. He was furious that we were there and treated us as burglars. We felt disrespected and very uncomfortable. You will understand that when you're in Iceland, you have no choice but to stay because everything will be closed when is dark. After what it seemed like another long hour of hearing him and his wife arguing back and forth, she stayed outside the building, but we could hear her voice, she called us pretending she was a staff member and finally gave us a code for a key to a room.
Tried to relax and forget about the small stuff in the hot tub outside, glad we finally had a place to sleep, but to add up to an unfortunate night I got an allergy all over my legs after stepping out of the water! It was dark, so we really couldn't have seen the cleanliness of the water before jumping in. Breakfast is only a couple old lunch meats, sliced cheese, sliced orange and apple, stale cereal, coffee, expired tea and hot chocolate mix. I did not risk trying the milk.
DUSTY ROOM, ONE SHARED SHOWER FOR ALL GUESTS! MOLDY BATHROOM, MUSTY SMELL, EXPIRED FOOD, NOT CLEAR WATER.
Pros: Small cute/cozy cabin design and location views. Definitely, not worth the money and aggravation since there are beautiful views everywhere in Iceland.
STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE:
There are other hotels/guesthouses closer to Gullfoss waterfall and Seljalandsfoss, plus restaurant around those areas.response / report this review
