I don’t understand 3.6 rating. For a guesthouse it was great. It’s not a hotel you have to expect to share bathrooms (which were lovely). Hot tub outside was fantastic.
Breakfast very tasty and we were even given pancakes for lunch.
Couple who were looking after the property were really friendly and accommodating.
    Highly recommended.

No heater service, slippery floor on bathroom, bad smell in the room; only a cup of coffee for breakfast, overall not recommended.

Pleasant guesthouse with friendly and helpful owner who invited us to have dinner with her (and it was a very good dinner too). Bedroom was comfortable - a bit small but there is a large and elegant lounge room available for the use of guests so this was absolutely no problem. Judging by our experience there is no way this deserves the one-star rating a couple of users have given.

Writing this review is not so easy, as the lovely and very welcoming owner Sigga take reviews very personally. This is the house of her family and her "sacred place". She even mentioned, that she won't open the guesthouse next season because of the reviews

However, the furniture is rather old and the beds have innerspring mattresses. It can get crowded in the guesthouse's three shared bathrooms (shower and toilet in one room) if all 20 beds are taken. We were there mid June and payed € 194 for one night, which is even for Iclandic standards very high.

The high price might be caused by the location of the guesthouse in a highly frequented tourist zone, where it can be difficult to find any room. The Skógarfoss is not even five minutes away, which is starting or ending point for the famous and really beautiful Skogar-Landmannalauger hike.

Conclusion: If you are arriving in Skógar after a long day of acitivies/hiking this is a fair place to sleep for one night. If you are not dependent on finding something in the area, you will find better deals in the surroundings.

Do not book here.Several months ago we reserved this guesthouse. On the due day we arrived at 5pm just as it was getting dusk, only to be met by a brusque woman who informed us that she was full; that she had let our room and so she was sending us to another "guesthouse", although indeed there were no signs of other guests here. As we were miles from anywhere with no internet we had no choice but to go to the other place, which we had not chosen, and which turned out to be the pits, but it was either this or sleep in the car. We were charged the same amount - about £90 for a tired, shabby, cold room with a bathroom so grim we neither washed nor showered in there. No apology, compnsation or discount was forthcoming from Skogar. I would advise against booking here

My wife and I stayed here recently while traveling Iceland with an English friend, and it was a very enjoyable experience. First, let me get my only complaint out of the way. As we searched for a guesthouse to rent along the south coast in the Vik area, we noticed one that advertised a hot tub. "Score", we thought! December in Iceland, northern lights, a cold Viking beer, all enjoyed from the comfort of a hot tub. Not so much. While the accommodations were very cozy and the owner, Sigga, extremely friendly and sociable, the hot tub was in a state of hibernation, floating leaves and all. THAT is the only reason for the lack of a fifth star. (Edit. It's five stars) The stay was wonderful! The moment we walked in the front door Sigga called from the kitchen "come in, come in! Drink your beer with me!" She was like a doting grandmother, feeding us as much, and as often as she could. Unfortunately, our jetlag and the lack of sunlight had completely wrecked our normal appetite schedule. But each morning fresh coffee was brewing and scrambled eggs and toast and meat and cheese were in abundance. It was delicious! I, however, was hard to convince that dried fish with butter would agree with my palate (it didn't), but it was her way of helping us to experience some true Icelandic culture. By the way, it is as dark as dark gets outside on her property, and we got to see the northern lights for the very first time! No light pollution at all! All in all, it was an experience I wouldn't trade for anything. The house was warm and welcoming, the beds comfortable, the showers hot, and the company beyond hospitable and entertaining. We will definitely be returning to see Sigga. We're just going to give her more of a heads-up, so she can get the hot tub ready :-)

Wasn't as described in the photos, hotpot doesn't look like its been used for years! had a hostel feel to the place. Got given a twin room when we booked a double months ago. Breakfast was covered in flies and the fridge absolutely stank.

Rather dirty and cluttered, in someone's home. But owner and helpers were nice.

Wow. I booked this place based off of its location to Skogafoss and the reviews it had already received. This place is amazing and stands up to its reviews. A cute little hot tub, a gorgeous deck that looks out into the field, a short walk and you hit the waterfall. The ladies running the guesthouse were so sweet and accommodating. The rooms were adorable. It felt like home for a night, I wish I could have stayed another night!
