No internet. The workers weren't nice, and they don't provide clean towels or remove the trash in a scheduled way. There wasn't warm water and they didn't repair it right away, they left searching for someone else without saying whether they would repair it or not. There is no information. When there is wind it enters through the windows.

Great little cottage. However shower was broken, no one answered the phone or email that i sent, in the last 72 hours. If you are willing to risk that 45km from the closest town. Do it, if not look for a hotel that has staff on site being so far from a city.

Beautiful Location. Fun fact, these little cabins can withstand sustained winds of and long heavy gusts of up to 150 mph (67 m/s). I would recommend getting to the cabins during daylight as they can be difficult to spot during a winter storm.

Awesome spot at the foot of a volcano! Easy check-in, cottage was clean and spacious and views were great. Would love to come back.

Beautiful location and very convenient to all the local sights! We were even able to enjoy the northern lights from just outside. However, make sure to read instructions for checking in. We had no problems but almost missed the email with PDF attachment that included all instructions. There is no reception and we were approached by several other groups who were having trouble checking in. Lastly, our cottage was not in great condition - broken and leaking shower, doors difficult and noisy to close, not enough soap or toilet paper, no towel for drying dishes, and not super clean (but it is a cabin still a step up from camping). All that said, overall we were able to enjoy our stay.

Not bad at all, considering it is a cabin, not a hotel. The bathroom left something to be desired, and there could have been better blinds (partial uncovered windows in the main room made sleeping for our companions difficult due to sunlight at 1130pm, no blind in the bathroom). But the view was amazing and the location was great. Recommend.

AVOID at all cost!!!! We pulled up to the little cottage with beautiful views on a stormy afternoon 4/17/17. Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there. We entered the tiny cottage to find the tiny bedroom with a giant puddle. Turns out rain water was flowing in between the window and walls. One of the leaks was flowing in where the bed was, and there was even another leaking coming in from a corner of the bedroom. We called the customer service number but there was no answer. I walked over to the little guest house nearby (owned by the same people) but there was no reception there. I called another 5 times before someone answered. A staff member came about 10 minutes later and "resolved" the issue by laying down 2 towels on the floor, which were soaked within an hour. He said he couldn't do anything while there was a storm outside. He would have to fix it tomorrow and we would have to just make do. We could not put our suitcases down as the room was too small and also there was standing water in the room. I had put down my computer bag on the floor then realized it was soaked due to a new puddle I noticed.

This place is completely shoddily built and unsuitable for the weather in Iceland. Other problems: water leaks out from under the shower, which explains the warped floors in the bathroom. The floors were also extremely cold, partly because the heating was simply not warm enough for cold weather in Iceland. . Only one hob of the stove worked. The kettle was broken, two of the kitchen cabinet doors were broken, and several of the dishes were clearly not properly washed.

We tried contacting customer service again because as the evening wore on, the rain was blowing in and getting the bed wet. Judging by the water stains on the walls and furniture, this was not the first time that there were leaking issues. Unfortunately, we received no response from North Star Cottage. We stayed only one night even though we booked for two nights. We still have not received any response, showing how little they care about their clients. AVOID at all cost!!!!

Our group was so looking forward to staying at the North Star Cottages, so when we pulled up last week on Feb. 26, 2017, we were disappointed to discover that our cabin had been double-booked. There was another couple in our assigned cottage when we arrived with the same reservation as us, so we called North Star and they quickly sent an employee out. When the employee arrived, he chatted with the couple in our cabin, realized it had been double-booked, and then without one word he got back in his car and quickly sped off. Thinking we'd receive a phone call or that he'd come back with alternative lodging, we waited about 30 minutes to call North Star. When we tried calling multiple times we got a busy signal and nobody ever picked up, called us back, or showed up again at the site, leaving us stranded in the middle of Iceland at 10 p.m. As we were trying to get ahold of North Star, another group was experiencing the same double-booking situation, which made us think this isn't the first time this has happened. After this 2-hour ordeal, luckily we found a hostel down the road that was able to accommodate us so last minute, but what a nightmare this was. I've never experienced a more unprofessional and infuriating situation with accommodations before. We never received a follow-up with an apology and don't understand how a business can ignore a mistake as big as this one. Be extremely wary of booking with North Star Cottages and have a backup plan if you do book them.

After arriving at the North Star Cottage last week, Sunday, February 26th, we walked up to our cabin and discovered that they'd double-booked our stay. With another couple already inside, we called up the staff and they promptly sent out an employee who arrived maybe ten minutes later. He talked to the couple in the cabin and quickly drove off without any word to us. After waiting about thirty minutes, thinking we'd receive some sort of follow-up phone call or that he'd drive back with an update, we knocked on the cabin door and chatted with the couple inside and confirmed that the cabin had been double-booked and the North Star Cottage made no attempt to reach out to us after discovering this. We then called the staff numerous times only to receive a 'line-is-busy' signal over the course of the next hour and a half. Thankfully, we found a hostel nearby that could accommodate our last minute need for housing, but our experience with the North Star Cottage was incredibly unprofessional, frustrating, and off-putting. They left us to fend for ourselves and ignored their own mistake. We overheard an additional guest complaining about the same issue of double-booking who was also being ignored. I understand that people make mistakes and double-bookings can happen, but the fact they never reached back out to apologize or offer a housing alternative was about as unprofessional as you can get. We sat there in the car for about two hours trying to make something happen until we threw in the towel. What was supposed to be a nice evening in Iceland ended up being one of the most frustrating experiences I've ever had with accommodations.

We stayed in cabin 5! I read some really terrible reviews about this place and still booked it some of the reviews seemed like they expected a 5 star stay but were familiar with cabins and cottages in Canada, so we figured we would try it out.
It was super cosy, all the amenities were there and it was really nice to have a kithenette, dining space and separate bedroom! It's the same price as a regular hotel room with one bed but we got much more!! The only issue we had was the bathroom door became unhinged and violently opened in the middle of the night because of 80km winds.
Overall, I would recommend this place to all my friends

Because of strong wind and rain during the whole night the water was going through on several places ( one above the bed), so we almost did not slept otherwise it would be 4 stars
