Definitely the cheapest option to rent an SUV in Iceland by far. Car had no problems and it was an easy experience to rent it out.

The prices at Sadcars were quite reasonable compared with the other rental companies operating out of Keflavik. In fact, their prices with the standard CDW insurance (which we could not waive though we didn't need it) were lower than the other companies' prices without insurance. The car, an AWD Dacia Duster, was also fine. Yes, it had quite a few dings and scratches, but all were noted on the rental contract and the car ran well. The service, however, was horrendous. We had booked a prepaid reservation for a 7 am pick up, arrived at Sadcars on the shuttle at 7:15, where we had to take a number and wait two hours to get our car as there were only 2 employees there to serve a room full of red-eye arrivals. (A third employee showed at 8 am, and a fourth, the manager, showed up a bit before 9 am but was busy fixing the coffee machine instead of helping customers.) Needless to say, even when finally fully staffed, this was not a smooth operation. Returning the car was also bad as we again had to take a number and wait with all the would-be renters for the inexorably slow service. Thankfully, the line was shorter than upon our arrival and we did not miss our flight. So, despite the decent prices and cars at Sadcars, I will gladly pay more at another car rental company if my travels again take me to Reykjavik.

The car was clean, in good condition, fitted for the winter weather/roads.
Pickup and drop off was pretty fast. We found the shuttle bus from the airport toward their headquarters immediately while exiting the airport, so no stress there.

I rent the car for one week in January 2018 and my review has two sides. Firstly I would like to say that the car (Dacia Duster) was OK. It has approx. 90 000 km, well equipped (heated seats, audio with BT). It has a problem with locking doors which was caused by water frozen in locks (probably nothing unique at Iceland).
But why I'm giving only two stars are employees of Sadcars at Keflavik airport office. When we arrived we had a problem that we have an only debit card and they accept only credit card but my debit card has the same possibility to hold the unrecorded transaction (the same as a credit card). But anyway it is specified in the agreement so I paid 50€ for transaction and 195€ for insurance which needs to be added to a debit card usage. So total cost weren't only 330€ but almost double 575€!
The worst situation has occurred when we return the car on Sunday morning. The employees were really unfriendly and when I asked for return the deposit they looked surprised and charged me for the second time instead of sending my money back. So the result is that I cannot operate with 2000€ which were stuck somewhere ion a way through their bank. They said that the extra charge should be back quickly but it wasn't. there were no apologies and no compensation.
When we arrived back to home I was sending the email to Sadcars and the only person who looks professional is Signy who replied to my emails in a friendly way and tried to find as much information from back as she can.

This was my second visit to Iceland. But in the future, I will rather find different car rental company or stick to a previous one we had which was cheaper in the final summary and their service much better and customer friendly.

The car we received was not at all suitable for the trip that we booked. We wanted a car that could handle F-roads and our car looked the part, but didn't act the part. We missed a reservation due to a river that we weren't able to cross and there were some hills that we thought we would either never get over, or flip over trying to. When we got a flat tire, there was no instruction manual in the glove box to assist. The check engine light was on when we were given the car, one lighter didnt work, and the car seemed ready to fall apart.that being said, it lasted for the whole trip and we got out alive. So if you want cheap, SADcars is the best deal around, but be careful booking and think about what kind of trip you have planned.

Great place if you are renting on the budget. Keep in mind these are older vehicles with quirks. That being said my car was ready as agreed upon and the staff was friendly and efficient.

Not super close to the airport itself but they have a shuttle! Great value for your money however. I would totally recommend them to anyone wanting to save a few bucks in Iceland.

This company is poorly run! When we arrived to pick up our car it was after midnight, pouring with rain and pitch black. The car was 'checked' hurriedly in the dark using the staff members phone light. There was a few things missed that I pointed out but given how dark and rainy it was seeing the car properly was impossible. I returned the car and there was a chip in the windscreen. No rock's hit us while driving so and the car was in pretty bad knick anyway but they decided to charge..350 euro.for a chip!
The cars should be checked in the light! (There's a perfectly good garage) not in the dark in the rain using a phone light. Given how wet and dark it was there was no way it could have been noticed. Be very wary of this company!!! I highly doubt this chip will even be fixed.

Cheap and used car but reliable for me, a little noise and the engine light turned on but no problem otherwise. That was the only thing we needed. And they are not a pain in the ass when you return the car, very fair !

Great and affordable service. We booked well in advance and so were able to take advantage of a generous discount on reserving a 4-wheel-drive vehicle for our Icelandic holiday. Staff is extremely responsive, friendly, and helpful. Rides to and from Kefkavik airport or hotel a definite and unexpected bonus. Would definitely use them again and would not hesitate to recommend.

You get a reliable car at the best price with great, honest customer service. Transers to and from the airport were fine as well just keep in mind they're not always going to send a shuttle for one or two people if they are expecting more customers within a half hour or so. If you have reasonable expectations you'll be delighted.

No complaints. Rented their Dacia Dokker campervan in June 2017. Drove perfectly fine, worked better than I could have expected. No problems with either pickup or drop off.

If you're renting something else from them, I can see why their might be problems. Their fleet is full of older vehicles. Personally I don't want car troubles on vacation, especially in random isolated Iceland. I'd definitely recommend the Dokker (it's smaller than most campervans, but that is fine), but I'd hesitate to recommend anything else from them. Just like with any car, your experience my vary.

The company is appropriately named. It is an accurate description of the vehicles, so be aware. While we never had an actual problem with the vehicles we rented, they had EXTREMELY high mileage (200000 Miles+) and were very beat up and rusty. So do not expect a pretty car. We also had warning lights come on in the vehicles, but there was nothing actually wrong with the mechanics of the vehicles, so it is likely that there was just an issue with the dashboard lights. The windows were also chipped and streaked, so some of the pictures we took from the vehicles were blurred due to the windows.
Also note that when you pick up the vehicle, there will likely be very little gas in the tank. This is company policy, and you can return the vehicle the same way. There is an N1 station very close, however, when we arrived, there was an issue with the pump. We had to drive a few kms to the Orkan station down the road to fill up.
They will pick you up at the airport, and will meet you near the airport exit. Be on the lookout for the driver holding a sign. The van they pick you up in is also nearing the end of life, but it got us around.
Not all the staff spoke good English, so we had a little difficulty when picking up and dropping off the vehicles.
Note that if you decide to drop off the vehicle at a different time than you originally tell them, you may have to wait for a ride back to your hotel. They do have staff at the site most of the time, but it is a skeleton crew, and they have to call in other staff to drive you.

Good quality and price. I had a "Group X" Toyota Yaris. Though it had extensive body damage, over 250,000 miles, and was a bit dirty, it drove just fine. The initial inspection was rushed and I later found the coolant was very low. Check fluid levels and tires before you drive off. It was given and returned with an empty tank. I paid $7.2/gal with the car getting at least 30mpg. Excellent way to do the Golden Circle.

We had a very good experience with SADcars. It's good value for money. We got their cheapest vehicle a Hyundai i10 with around 150 000 km. We had no troubles with the car, although the steep and windy roads especially in the West Fjords were a bit scary.

Sadcars is located a bit away from Keflavik airport but they pick you up by van and drop you off again for your flight.

If you are looking for a good value deal on a used vehicule this is the place to go.

Unless you have credit card you have to leave 1050euro deposit. Upon return you only get back 1000euro. Car quality is good and the staff is helpful.

Well the car didn't leave us stranded! :)

We got a 19 year-old Subaru Forester with 475,000 km (300K miles) that was probably cleaned last time in the mid-2000s. The driver's windshield wiper was so loose it would detach from the windscreen at anything over 90km/h, and when it's raining 6/7 days straight, you kinda need it. The car had a perma-lean to the right side (see pic), but drove fine. The only issues mechanically were that it had to warmed up for 5 min in the morning before putting it in D, otherwise the engine would die, and the headlights were useless. The rear wiper was missing completely, so rear visibility was non-existent when raining.
We also had to wait for almost 2h at the airport to be picked up, which at 5am wasn't fun.
The good thing - 4x4 car with studded tires and great heating for the price of a micro car. Would I do it again? Only if in dire need of 4x4 for cheap.

SADcars is a fabulous way to rent a budget vehicle in Iceland. They picked us up from the airport and quickly checked out a Toyota Rav4. The vehicle was a little old and worn, but that is exactly what you pay for. They ensure that there is nothing fatally wrong with the vehicle before you head out on your adventure. With the high cost of so many things in Iceland, it was refreshing to have a very reasonably priced rental car.

Much cheaper than other car rentals. You get what you pay for because, whoa, this place has some junkers. The whole operation is a fly by the seat of your pants, sometimes in an enduring way, but not when you are waiting forever. You will save a lot of money on a car, and if it does not break down on you, have a great story to tell the grand kids one day about how you drove "Ugly Betty", an old Subaru, through Iceland. You do not need the insurance, trust me.
