I rented a Subaru Forester from here for a whole week and was very happy with the car and the service. The car was clean, very reliable, and a had a full tank of gas when I picked it up. The staff helped me understand the rules and situations I would face when driving in Iceland and gave me an information packet with the same information just in case I needed it again. Returning the car was a breeze and the airport offers a shuttle between the business and the terminals.

Only recommendation is the airport hours listed here on Google may not reflect the hours the office is open. They are open I believe 4:00am to 11:59pm (From what I remember).

Enjoying a January discount, we got a Duster 4WD for the price of a small car, and quite honestly, I felt much more comfortable going through snow and dirt road with it. Renting was as easy as it can be, and the little extra is the regular weather report they send you in case of rough weather.

We paid for the platinum package of insurance. So the reception didn't take us to review the car in person. We also didn't check the Fuel Tank too, but when we leave your air port office, we found that the fuel tank is not 100% full, just 90%(the meter shows 90%).

Also, after we drive to Reykjavik, we found out the car charger is not functional since the GPS shows low power. Can you image if we found out this after we leave downtown will bring us how much inconvenient?

And the right-rear door can not open from inside, only can open from outside.

So all above issues took us another 1 hour to your Reykjavik City office to fix it which made us feel uncomfortable and wasting time.

After all, the car is OK.

And when I return the car, your reception doesn't care about my complaint
just said "ok you can go." which I feel quite surprise.
She makes me feel she only cares about did I fill the tank or not, others not her business.

I won't come back again if you didn't improve those well.

Very good and fast service. The car we rented was in perfect conditions. They sent emails to let us know about coming storms or bad weather. They are always available to reply emails and calls when needed. This is definitely great value for money.

Happy with the Land Rover Discovery. We rented this car for 5 days with 5 average sized adults with luggage. Good sized car, with heated steering wheel and seats :-) for the cold mornings. Also comes with Cruise control and some other nice features.

For picking up the car I would advice to share some directions in the confirmation emails how to get at the rental company from the Airport. What might help for improving customer experience is to train the staff/host with some communication skills. When I arrived at the company there was no-one who said hi or such. Just waiting and waiting to be helped. Once I had contact everything went smooth and staff was friendly. Just the entrance was not very welcoming.

I definitely would recommend others to use the rental services of Reykjavik Rent a Car.

Rented a car for 5 days from here and they were great to deal with. Made reservations on line arrived early morning had a fast check in. The car was ready it was super clean, had no issues with it. I would definitely use them again.

We rented a Duster for 6 days, for winter time. I liked very much the email updates about the weather and road situation (during those days), the information provided and the good coffee at the office! The car had good winter tires very needed for the icy roads.

Rental for five days from airport, I couldn’t say the services are bad because I get nothing about it.
First, I only got the “car checking list” which shows the existing damage on a picture, and I had to check by myself.
We had an accident on the same day night due to the extremely bad weather, one of the tire and rim were damage, we called rental centre and their reply is they could do nothing about it, I only can stop the car on the side of the road and wait for the other drivers passing by, fortunately i got someone help for changing the spare tire.
The next day I emailed the company and hope they could send someone for help or give any instructions about the tire, but what I got is that they said they don’t have the new tire or rim for this car type, i need to ask hotels reception for the tire shop or garage and I have to fix by myself. (We bought SCDW insurance but not cover tire damage at all)
I drove two hours to other town, found a garage and still can’t fixed it because they don’t have that rim, and you know what, I could only use that spare tire for the rest of my trip for four days, I had to to drive very slow and extremely careful because of the spare tire efficacy is very weak.
Moreover, they never reply my email after all, What a nightmare !

The only quick service I got which is they charge us for the tire and rim when I return the fkin car.:)

Rental from Reykjavik International Airport. The two stars are for the staff, who are, as all Icelanders we came across, friendly. This place has older cars and on return they found cracks on our windscreen we didn’t think we made and hadn’t checked initially because the weather was poor and it was dark and we didn’t have visibility. We had full insurance but there isn’t a high standard of good practice in terms of checking for bumps and scraps - we could see the body of the car and there were dents not on their report clearly visible even in the dark. Also, we had to catch a bus and drag our bags out of the airport and wait for the bus then drag our bags down to the rental place. Luckily we didn’t have young kids. They should clearly say shuttle or on airport on quotes like other major companies.

Ragnar wilhelmson was unbelievably accommodating to us. There is no other smart option in all of Reykjavik for rental car needs. I will always use this company. I rented a Dacia Duster. The car was fit for the Icelandic dirt roads. The price is also nice. We delivered the car a few hours late because of weather challenges, but the rental company understood the situation and was nice. Keep in mind that they are located outside the city center.

I used this rental company on my recent trip to Iceland.

Very efficient booking, confirmation and check-in process.

Received an upgrade to a slightly higher 4x4 which was almost brand new.

Communication on car pickup was efficient and very effective and friendly.

I'd have no problem recommending them or using them again.

I rented a car with Reykjavík Rent A Car and ended up having to cancel my reservation due to unforeseen circumstances. The friendly and helpful staff member that I spoke to on the phone gave me a full refund without an additional charge. When I first booked, there was an issue with AmEx and Reykjavík Rent A Car emailed me right away and were very communicative. Though I'm disappointed that I won't be able to follow through with my rental on this trip, I am very impressed with Reykjavík Rent A Car's selection, prices, and customer services and will definitely book a car with them on my next trip to Iceland.
