  I cannot recommend Minna-Mosfell enough. Gudrun is an amazing host and will help you plan your time in Iceland based on your desires and the weather! The Guesthouse is in a perfect location for day trips.

  Mit Abstand das beste Guesthouse in dem wir übernachtet haben! Sehr nette Gastgeber, die einem gute Tipps für Ausflüge und Sehenswürdigkeiten gegeben haben. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker, insbesondere die Pfannkuchen. Nachmittags gab es selbst gebackenen Kuchen. Zur freien Verfügung standen Kaffee und Tees. Der Hot Tub wurde auf Wunsch frisch gefüllt. Die Zimmer waren sehr angenehm und geräumig. Alles war sehr sauber.
  Insgesamt eine Wohltat nach und vor unseren Flügen dort übernachtet zu haben!!

  Just look at Trip Advisor, this was the number 1 guesthouse in Reykjavik area in 2013,2014 and now 2015. We stayed there and know why it is number 1 it is a 'guest house' and now I know what that means, we were certainly treated as Guests, but probably it would be more true to say were treated like Royalty. It is a little outside Reykjavik but don't let that put you off.. I'd suggest discussing any plans/questions with the proprietors and they will be more than happy to give good advice.
