Amazing journey into the ice of Iceland. It's one thing to experience a glacier from the top, it's completely different thing to see the insides. BTW there are some ice sculptures and a chapel inside.

This is a dont miss activity in Reykjavik, it is a beautiful glacier and a must if you Wanna do the ice cave expedition, the company running these caving tour is very profesionnal and provide you all necesary equipment for this activity, after That you can do the lava cave which is another amazing cave and totally different to the ice cave. No te puedes perder estas actividades tanto en el glacial como en la cueva de lava dos de las actividades más espectaculares en Islandia

Pretty quick access by the bus from the carpark at the info center, most cars will still be able to drive up to base camp despite warnings. You can avoid the 2000kr cost of the bus trip that way. Base camp offers refreshments and free water proof over coats for the "inside the glacier" tour. The tour is fantastic and i highely recommend it. Did i mention you go up the glacier in a modified missle launcher vehicle from the Eastern European war? Very cool!

Simple but welcoming setup -- great place to get out of the wind. When you drive yourself, take care of your car doors, the winds are very strong up here!

You can reach this place with a 4x4 and it's truly amazing. You are riding over the moon en reaching the end of the world. If you have some time left and like driving, you should definitely go here!

Good lunch selection but very expensive. You start your glacier or lava cave tour here. Lots of toilets, a shop and a new hotel with pool. The glacier adventure is amazing.

Amazing place with stunning views. Base for your trip onto the glacier. Shame it's melting and will be gone in a number of decades.

This is a Basecamp. The people are very kind and polite and answer questions you may have concerning the glacier. From here you ride in the Man 8x8 road passenger glacier vehicles to the glacier entrance. Put on the jumpsuit provided and make sure you are wearing boots which are warm, mid calf, and waterproof. You will be walking/touring in ice tunnels. But for this basecamp, it is exactly what you would expect for a basecamp.
