Visited in mid-April 18. 5 of us, three teen kids. Great tour, but as with everything in Iceland, expensive for what it is. If you have been in other caves, such as limestone, then this may not be as much of a thrill, but if you are interested in lava caves, it is pretty special. The guide was a young British geologist who knew his stuff and presented very well. Overall, great tour and well presented venue. Recommended.

What a fantastic tour - Pete was a great tour guide and gave us some real insight. Amazing views in the cave and incredible visit to the largest lava cave in Iceland! A must visit if in the region!

Was a cool volcanic tube but I don’t like paying that much for some dude to lead me into a cave and try to get me to lick icicles. Seemed like he might have a fetish. The volcanic tubes were pretty cool however.

We didn't plan to visit the Lava Cave but our initial planned tour was cancelled. This unplanned stop was one of the highlights of our trip. The tour guide was fantastic/ funny and the fact that we were actually inside a Lava Cave was amazing. Make sure to bring warm clothes as it's gets quite cold.

This was one of the highlights of our holiday in Iceland. The cave itself is amazing but hearing how it formed it’s actually mind blowing. Our guide Egill was incredibly knowledgeable and also gave us a lot of facts about Iceland, not necessarily related to geology or volcanoes. The surrounding area is beautiful and it’s worth a trip to see what’s around (Barnafoss waterfall and settlement museum in Borgarnes). Absolutely recommended

This was mentioned before on another comment, but I think this tour is more kid oriented. If you've ever visited other caves (e.g. West Virginia or Tennessee in the US) with stalagmites and stalactites I would not make this a highlight of your trip. Especially if you're only doing the base package that only has you waking on wooden boards. The tour guide was lovely and knowledgeable but the cave formation history was more interesting than the visual outcome due to my prior cave experiences. Also, the stops and short stories truly were a stall tactic due to the short walk to the end of the cave. Overall, know what you're getting into. If you have kids and they've never been to a cave, great. They'll love it. If you want a more involved cave experience, I recommend to pay for the extended package that has you go deep into the tunnel or just honestly pass especially if you have only a short few days in beautiful Iceland.

We visited the Vidgelmir cave in early September and it was an amazing experience. Our guide, Emilia, was fun and incredibly informative. I highly recommend the slight detour it takes to check out the largest and best preserved lava cave in Iceland.

This is a really intresting place with a long history, Our guide was great and funny. But.. the marketing was a little tricky, you only go 1/3 of the way into the cave and I felt a bit of a let down.

Dark, cold, slightly scary. Last stop without any lights is super refreshing.

It's great to see thus lava tube that is relatively well preserved.

The elevated path throughout most of the tour makes it easy to navigate and helps preserve it.

Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and funny.

Amazing tour, absolutely worth the price of admission. Bring warm clothes and possibly glooves, since it is around freezing temperatures in the cave.

The tour guides are very knowledgeable and entertaining, so the one-and-a-half hours go by in a breeze!

Wonderful Icelandic experience down a 1,100 year old lava tube. The wooden walkway makes it accessible to most and learning about the formations is very interesting.

Even if you have been in a cave before, go here. The Basalt volcanic tube is a site to behold. The cave is very cold and it is a trip to get out to it, but well worth it.

It's a bit hard to find in the winter. I was the only person out there and it's pretty remote. You can't get too far into the cave as the farmer that owns the land has put a gate in. If you're in the area and looking for something off the beaten path check it out. The entrance area to the cave is probably the best part -- that and the fact that there are no people for miles around. So quiet! :)
