Interesting complex to see from the outside, with its massive metal tubes carrying steam, its little geodesic bore-holes, and its giant central structures, all surrounded by pastoral mountains and sheep. Worth a drive-by.

Must definitely visit enroute to krafla viti crater and Leirhnjukur thermal area. Atleast for the toilets as the attractions themselves dont have any. The short video show abt the region and the power plant was interesting and informative. There's free coffee too. In case visiting after going to the attractions, where shoes are bound to get caked in thick clayey mud, there are shoe cleaning brushes just outside the visitor centre. And strict warnings posted against any attempt to clean shoes in the toilets inside!

Facilities are modern and clean. The permanent exposition is made up of some very interesting and educational information pannels. Mandatory visit for those who are interested in renewable energies.

The place is really beautiful. The visitor center was closed when we got here, but it was very nice to go by anyway. The car stop on top of the hill gives a great view over the power plant. Have a stop there if you go down that road.
