The Hostel is very old, everything seems highly used and looks shabby. The facilities are too small for the amount of people and rooms. Long waiting times e.g. to get to the bathroom (1 bathroom for 5 rooms with several beds) or to find a table and reach the breakfast buffet.
1 * is for the location: all major sights as well as a small supermarket and gas station are close
1 * is for the breaksfast: if you finally make it to the buffet and find a seat the options and food are good.

Much too simple for that price! The kitchen had almost nothing. In the bathroom was mold (!!!) and the toilet lid always fell into our back. But the staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast was better than exspected.

Nice rooms to stay in, right next to the info center and groceries which is nice. The showers are very rustic, just like a spigot and a hole in the floor. The breakfast is free, Lots of fruit and freshly baked homemade bread! And excellent coffee!

Nice and clean. Great breakfast. But thin walls and hence noisy- especially when it's next to the kitchen and some decides to do the dishes late in the evening.

I've stayed here twice in past years (2011 and 2013) and really liked it -- decent facilities and reasonable prices. However, as of 2017 prices were beyond imagination; a product of the tourist boom that's hit Iceland faster than construction can produce more lodging.

The flies!! THE FLIES!! The flies have nothing to do with my rating, my only issue was the water in the bathroom. There was no way to get warm or cold water. The room had a sink with cold water though. I have never felt water so hot in my life, other than that the place was great with nice breakfast.

When it's only 2 degrees centigrade and snowing. Elda came to the rescue and provided the 4 of us a fantastic apartment with comfy beds and hots shower/bath. Our tents stayed securely packed away. Nice breakfast too.

The best thing about Eldá was the location, a short distance from the shores of Lake Myvatn. The accommodation is within hiking distance of the amazing Nature Baths, Grjotagja cave and Hverfjall volcano - all amazing places to visit.

The accommodation itself was fine - a shared apartment with private bedrooms. The bathroom and kitchen were clean but spartan. When we arrived, there was very little crockery or cutlery in the shared kitchen, but this was quickly rectified as soon as we mentioned it to our hosts.

Breakfast was included with our room and was simple - bread, sliced meats and cheeses and coffee or tea.

If you want to see the Northern Lights while visiting, driving over the ridge into the plains to the east of town gets you away from all natural light in about 10 minutes. We experienced an incredible spectacle - the Aurora was bright and very active, and so beautiful that we forgot about the cold for almost an hour of watching it fall in curtains of light.

Great spot to be close to a lot of really wonderful things to do and see, including the Myvatn baths, if that's on your list. There's a a lit up church which, if the Aurora Borealis is clear, would make a lovely picture - it's a short enough walk to be close to it.

I booked this place, but the put me in a different building that was under construction. I did have a lot of privacy in the annex though which was nice!

We stayed there for two nights. We stayed in house 15 instead of the reception house. We love it as it is quiet and smooth internet connection. Though it is a shared bathroom, it is kept clean and tidy.

Breakfast was included with nice quality. It is right next to the tourist information and supermarket, we can join tours just by walking distance.
