Cozy store and Mr Gilbert is a fantasticn guy

What should i say? Like a collector of watches, i read a lot about it. Deside to wisit shop in Reykjavik, because was really interested in some models. First of all i wanted to order the mostly expensive from them with my name engraved on it. I asked if i can take a look on this model because about 12 tausand euro watch i would like to see firstly. Who buy something expensive before looking? But they don't have them (one week before coming i asked them specially if it possible to look this model in a shop and they say yes). Than i take a talk with one of the workers (he was totally not friendly!) and now i am really disappointed. Why? Here is nothing what they made self - the movement is from Switzerland, the engraving is from New Zeland and materials are from Germany. Also why shoud i spend so much money for this? If i can build a Lego models it does not means that i pruduse it self. I am from Switzerland and here i can buy a really hand made manufacture watches which are more complicate than "this" for cheaper price and it will be a quality products. For some tausand euro i can buy a gold case watches. Everywhere with a big proud this company say that they make something special - in a real that's just nothing which have no market price.

Stopped in here and was given a talk about Tom Cruise buying a watch, had a look at the watches and recognized a lot of generic Chinese components. Misleading advertising, not a handmade watch anymore than the chipsets in your phone are handmade.

In fact, I think it is your customers that are mistaken, a manufacturer actually produces their own components, where is your machinery? I would be shocked to see if you don't import generic cases and dials from China - there is nothing wrong with transparency! You install a generic ETA movement with a customized rotor, are you even a watchmaker?

I could not recommend this shop and their watches more. They took the time to show us how they make the watches. The detail and care they put into each watch is rally impressive. Amazing watches.

Wonderful shop with fine handcrafted watches. Owner was so kind and welcoming! Awesome guy with incredible stories who made our whole day. A true delight! So glad we stopped in.

Bought a Frisland Classic from him in 2015 and just been back to get it adjusted. Great watch; lovely shop; and Gilbert is unique as a great and lovely watchmaker. He is happy to talk about his trade and has real passion for both it and for customer service.

Passionate and welcoming: I passed in JS Watch Shop only to have a look on some watches that i like. I meet Gilbert who take time to explain me how he make these watches and he let me exam his most beautiful watch to show the quality of the details.
He likes too to speak from Iceland, it was a great meeting.

Awesome Experience! If you are a watch a lover, this is a must. The best part of this company is they take the time to talk with you about more than watches and take a general interest in a conversation with you. I was lucky enough to actually meet, Master Watchmaker, Gilbert O. Gudjonson. Not only did I meet him he took the time to show me all his different makes and models and treated me like there were no other customers. Talking about how the watches are made and how he does it, to the small color changes his son made to a few faces and hands to telling us how he made special watches for the coast-guard and donated themJust a real classy guy.
It was a fantastic experience! I highly recommend and I look forward to someday having JS watch make a custom piece for me!response / report this review
