Not sure what the burger is made of, but it's definitely not beef. I couldn't get over eating a mystery animal, so I didnt finish my meal.

Nice atmosphère and friendly staff. "Chat with the locals" is certainly true and we enjoyed it here really much. The burgers are simple and tasty and also not too expensive.

We ate héroe today, se celebrared my fathers birthday today at this amazing restaurant. The attention we received from Christian was outstanding and my father really enjoyed the food and most of all he appreciated the gift from our host he introduced him to Brennivín now we are taking two liters back to México.

Very genuine friendly service here. We came later in the evening on a Tuesday for beer and fries. Although we try to blend in, we are obvious tourists.. the man at the counter noticed us looking at a hiking map and walked over, sat at our table, and spent 15 minutes talking about the trails and surrounding area with us. He was extremely sincere and patient.
The beer selection is good.. Borg bottles and two taps from Beljandi in Breiddalsvik. He talked to me about the IPA, which turned out to be very nicely balanced and delicious.
Food prices looked very decent and we will probably stop in again tomorrow after hiking the trail he recommneded.
You can tell a place is good in Iceland when it is filled with locals and other Icelanders on their summer vacation. The lively conversation in here makes it clear that this is one of those places.
If you find yourself in Borgarfjordur Eystri, this is definitely the place you should go!response / report this review -

For tourists visiting Iceland, borgardjordur eystri, I reccomend for everyone to come eat at Já Sæll, lovely place, great food, nice service, and over all just a really lovely restaurant. Reccomended.

We happened to eat here on the last day it was open this summer when it was full of locals yet were welcomed warmly. I had a 'viking burger' which was as good as any I've eaten in gourmet burger restaurants. The feel of the place is like a traditional working man's club in the UK yet as I say very welcoming to outsiders.
