We had our glacier excursion today with Rob. Seriously had such a great time! He was very attentive and safe but also made sure everyone was laughing and having a great time. I definitely learned a lot and also completely fell in love with how beautiful it was. 100% would recommend this company!! (The gear was also great) Thank you! :)
We had an excursion up the glacier with this company. Our guide, Ian, was very friendly and knowledgeable. Thanks to him, we learned a lot about the history and evolution of the glaciers over time. Quite scary how fast they are retreating each year.
Although we were seriously equipped (hiking boots, helmets, crampons, ice picks), the experience was more of a walk on the glacier. Perhaps slightly more exciting options were available (ice climbing) but we didn't experience them. Also, the glacier is covered with a lot of volcanic ash, so large parts of it are black. It's perfectly natural, but some people seemed a bit disappointed by it.
Very nice place lots of things going on. There's a great restaurant where I had some lemony chicken with rice and a side salad that was to die for. Theres shopping and dining and the bathrooms are very clean. There's also an area where you can buy clothing if youre looking to go to the glacier and do some climbing. The best part was the shopping there! Theres tons of things to chose from but do expect to spend a pretty penny.
This was an amazing experience. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and made everyone feel comfortable. The walk was not that strenuous, and the view was phenomenal. Definitely worth the money!
We did an Ice Climbing trip with Icelandic Mountain Guides and it was great. They picked us up at our hotel in Reykjavik and took us to their shop where we got gear for the trip. Then we drove out to the sight and picked up one mire guest along the way. Once we got to the site we geared up and headed up to the glacier. We climbed in two locations; each about 30' tall. They gauge the climbing on the skill of the group. Fortunately our group was small and in good shape so we did vertical walls and a little overhung work. Our guide was very good and really knew what he was doing. We also stopped at two waterfalls on the way back to Reykjavik. Bring snacks.
Very good hike through Icelandic mountain guides. It was the best part of my trip in Iceland.
IT. WAS. AWESOME.
We did the glacier hike and our guide went above and beyond -- built a path for us to climb into one of the caves, doubled as a pro-photographer, and more. Excellent experience!
Should be on the must-visit list. Have the chance to touch and walk on the glacier.
Great hiking experience. They have gear you can rent in case you forget something.
