We spent 20 days doing the whole of Iceland and I must say, this was my best meal out of all the restaurants we went to and we ate out every night.
The place is almost hidden behind the petrol station and if it weren't for the reviews we had seen on here before we left, we probable would have never found it but also not gone in as it does not scream 'come on in' but I'm so glad we did.
This was the first lamb stew I had in Iceland and by far the best. The same goes for the artic char. I liked both dishes so much I had them a few more times in other places but never as good as here.response / report this review -

There was a sign on the door with the open hours indication. We arrived 45 minutes before it closes and the door was locked, with people (clients and waiters) still inside. We knocked, the waiter saw us and ignored us like we were ghosts. We stood there in the cold for 5 minutes and nobody came. Disrespectful and arrogant service.

Fantastic food and friendly service. Can be busy, but the waitstaff handle their customers well. I'd recommend the salmon, but honestly everyone at our table enjoyed their food a great deal.

Amazing food and view. One of the best food we had in Iceland. It was packed at 9:30 but they somehow sat all 13 of us. Some of us ordered burger, to be on the safe side, and this has been their biggest regrets in Iceland. Get Arctic Char or lamb. They made pasta w butter for my kid.

This place is popular with the adventure seekers in the area. Even though they were busy when we are there, they really hustled to get everybody fed. We had the traditional lamb stew which is refers to as meat soup in Iceland. Very good. It was expensive for a bowl of soup but the whole country is that way so.hey at least we are here.

Tucked away behind the gas station this newer restaurant is worth a stop. The food is good and relatively fair priced, for Iceland. The staff was the friendliest we encountered on our trip.

Perfect hot meal after a glacial climb n waterfalls. The walk and view in front is spectacular and you can sit in the sun ( if it's up) and have drinks

Commendable staff who tried all sorts of ways to let us know about an impending storm despite our language barriers. Food didn't take long to be served and the prices were reasonable. It was a really wonderful experience here at Ströndin and will not hesitate to visit again when in Vík!

Very nice and tasty restaurante. The staff is pretty nice and actually talks with you and not just to you. Great people who welcome you very warm. And the price is good for iceland.

Great staff. Decent beer selection. Food was really good. The smoked arctic chart and cured lamb on rye toast was absolutely fabulous. My hamburger and fries was delicious.

The wait staff are super friendly and didn't mind us 'camping there's regardless of how busy the restaurant got throughout the night. They had a smile and kept checking up on us to see if everything was alright.
If you're on a budget, go for the pizza otherwise eat at their fast food chain restaurant next door for almost half the price!response / report this review
